Wife of Dem House Chairman Sentenced to 3 years in Prison

Conyers' wife sentenced to three years in prison.

    Article

It's refreshing to see that the entire city of Detroit is not corrupt. Now if we could just make some in-roads with those in Washington, we might be able to see some real hope and change!

I admit... this one was off my radar and I kind of stumbled on the story. Was this even reported in the MSM?

Not much that I can remember.

I remember posting this story on the old site. The question was comparing bribes to adultery and which was worse. The media attention that politicians get for adultery is unbelievable, and this story almost quietly slipped on by. Perhaps it wasn't gossipy or tabloid enough(?)

The MSM has pretty much avoided all the Democrat scandals so far.

It's been pretty disgusting to watch (or rather, not watch).

Too funny....I (shockingly) had no idea this was even going on, and I consider myself a news junkie.

given this forum is called "ohiochatter" i assume that the majority of people on it are from ohio or have ties to ohio. perhaps the reason this scandal slipped past our collective radars was because the person involved was a city council member from detroit. not really a story that is going to be picked up by msm when you consider the national scandals out there. and probably not going to be on the local news when they have their own corrupt local officials to worry about.

Edwards/Massa have had play...I assume due to the sex angles on both. The Patterson story (oddly enough, the one that involves actual illegal conduct) has been next to invisible.

The thing is, John Conyers is like an icon for all that is democrat and this is his wife being sent to jail! Can you imagine if this had been the wife of John Boehner, Mike Pence or Ron Paul? Maybe the media are afraid of being labeled racists if they run with the story.

I understand your point, but I just don't think she rates national media attention. and if John Boehner's wife was a former city council member of Dayton or Cincinnati who had committed a crime related to her office, I think it would make news in Ohio, but not make it onto the national news cycle, its just not a big enough story given all the other options the media has (republican AND democrat)

    I'm perfectly serious.

Where are the nightly news stories about all the current ethics investigations involving Democrat members of Congress?

You can bet your bottom dollar is all but one current investigation involved Republicans, the news stories would be flowing from NBC, CBS, ABC, the NY Times et al. But since all but one are about Democrats, we've heard nary a peep.

Where were the big stories when ex-Louisiana Congressman Jefferson was sentenced? That was almost universally ignored (or buried deeply in the pages of the NY Times and others).

Why on Earth weren't there nightly stories about the graft involving Rangel, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and the outraged calls for his dismissal? I saw ONE story on NBC when he finally, finally was forced to take his "leave of absence" and not much else.

If a Republican House Speaker had promised to "drain the swamp" and there were these types of investigations on-going, you honestly don't believe her feet would be held to the fire by every member of the Jurassic media?

The mainstream Fourth Estate has abdicated its role as watchdog over these scumbags -- at least for now -- because they don't want to jeopardize the presidency of the guy they sold their collective souls to help elect.

No, it's not a coordinated conspiracy, it's just a lot of like minds falling into lockstep with one another. And the real loser is honest Americans who deserve to have ALL the news, and not the very, very selective story assignment we've seen during the past year and a half.

That's right, cause Obama was going to single handling stop all corruption in all places in DC

Jesus, she was dirty, and caught caught, her own fault. But blaming Obama is insane.

That is like blaming Bush for an R Congressional scandal. It makes no sense. Lame.
