I dont know how I didnt know this group was heading through my backyard, but lucky for them or I might have been inclined to stop and give them a piece of my mind.

Peace walk for limiting nuclear weapons and energy, or IMO using the past of Hiroshima to scare people into believing that Nuclear energy is highly dangerous.

I particularly liked the quote from the bozo about the govt should use the Piketon enrichment facility to start up renewable energy production, come on chucklehead I understand your wanting to see and end to nuclear weapons, I support that. But to lump the two together to scare people and trying to get rid of the only high paying jobs in Pike county and trying to better the area with jobs both construction and permanent employment pisses me off. It isnt like these jobs are everywhere down here! lol

Yeah, the two (weapons and energy) are not directly linked. Yeah, I support a long term view of striving toward a nuclear weapons free world, but also acknowledge that nuclear power is a crucial component in our drive for new energy technologies.

Linking Hiroshima to the plant in Piketon makes no sense. The two are completely different. Power plants are far safer than people realize. And power companies are not big and bad wanting to kill the environment or irradiate everyone. It is folks like that that give the whole movement of reducing weapons a bad name.

Granted, there is still the serious problem of where to put the waste (thank you Harry Reid), but comparing nuclear weapons reductions and nuclear power is a stretch.

I don't understand some of these people. Nuclear Energy is clean energy. If you want to go green and do it without hurting the economy.... Nuclear is the obvious choice.

^^^^^ Especially when the government has used this facility since the 50's and very little went to the areas tax base since they were federally owned and operated. Now they are public and are helping with the tax base and people like this want to shut it down. This area of Ohio is strapped for good paying jobs, and here is a company wanting to produce and make jobs and people from Australia are protesting it, go home Aussie!~
