    I give less credence to politicos who are under ethics investigations -- but his comments have to be a bit troubling if you're a Dem.

    As for the "sexual harassment" charge...I read what he said happened and IF (a huge IF here) it happened that way, it sounds a lot like the PC culture gone haywire.

    That's not a totally unbelievable thing to happen, especially when it involves a bunch of liberals.

    More likely it is both. Massa didn't mince words today when discussing Rahms's tactics. It appears to me that Rahm attempted to use Massa's indiscretion as a political tool. When Massa refused well goodbye.

    Yes, he obviously is doing this all with the goal of destroying our greatness. The President of the United States wants our country to fail, and not be as great as it once way.

    You can disagree with him all you want on his policies, health care, etc., but to think that he's doing it in order to knock us down a peg or two is asbolutely assinine.

    You don't honestly believe this, do you? Obama is intentionally ruining this country? I.E. is instituting these policies with the explicit intent to knock us down from our level of "greatness."

    I asked the question, if he did want to knock us down a peg, what would he be doing differently?

    Why would he want to pattern our health care system, the greatest in the world (even with its many flaws), after a failed Canadian or European model?

    Why would a high ranking Canadian official come to the US for heart surgery, if their health care system is worth being copied in the US?

    No one is claiming that we don't have some fantastic health care centers and doctors in this country, we have the best. But we also are among the most expensive. So of course you're going to be seeing high ranking foreign officials coming here for procedures. What you won't see is the everyman coming here for procedures. Is it because they don't want the same quality of care as those officials get? No, it's because they cannot afford it and neither can we.

    There have been programs that have come underbudget, but the ones I know are in the DoD. They include the JDAM, the Multiple Launch Rocket System, and one of the engines for either the F-15 or F-14. It can be done, if there is the correct oversight structure in place.

    You disagree with the way he is doing things. You think it isn't a wise decision. Fine, can't fault you for that.

    But, i say again, he's not doing it on purpose to intentionally "knock us down a peg."

    The fact that people actually believe this is astounding.

    Why in the hell would the President of the United States intentionally do something with the purpose of destroying us.

    You might think that is what his policies will do, but the fact remains that HE IS NOT doing it because it will hurt us. He thinks it is the solution. You can disagree, yes, but don't act like he is "out to get you," or hates our success and wants to "knock us down a peg," so to speak.

    Tons of Presidents have done things that maybe haven't worked in the past, but they did them because they thought they COULD make it work. Doesn't mean they did it because they knew it wouldn't work and wanted for it to fail to hurt us all.

    Was Bush trying to "knock us down a peg" when he sent troops to Afghanistan, even though history tells us that you can't "win" a war there.

    Was the goal of politicians who got us involved in Vietnam to "knock us down a peg" because they knew what had happened to the French there, and wanted us to suffer the same?

    The goal of Obama is not to "knock us down a peg." Give me a break.

    As far as Obama/government healtcare expansion,

    I think that Obama has banked, and banking on, the idea that this will be his legacy that history will look kindly upon in 20 years. This was his banner, really. Hope and change was just the mantra.
    Now, that's not to say that I agree with it, because I don't. :)

    These things usually go hand-in-hand. Of course the best doctors and facilities are going to be the most expensive. Just like, in sports, the best athletes are the most expensive and the best homes, best vehicles, best clothes, etc. are all the most expensive. That is capitalism. It isn't perfect, but that's the way of it.

    As I stated in my original reply to this thread, I agree that some sort of healthcare reform is needed, but not in the form of this bill.
