  The thing that always amazes me about charts like that is you can always tell where WWII was without even looking at the dates.
  
  I agree, the "original" tea partiers and true conservatives can say what they want. It's the people who just all of the sudden became outraged on 1/20/09 that I have a problem with.

  When the government is spending nearly half of the GDP of the whole country, we are in trouble...oh wait, too late.

  Back in 1842 Horace Mann promised that public schools would cut the crime rate by 90 percent. That was when nearly all Americans were able to read. Today the government reckons that only 13 percent of adult Americans are “proficient” in literacy and numeracy. But government spending on education has never been higher.

  I don't doubt that we spend too much, but something seems fishy with that last part. Nearly all americans could read in 1842, but only 13% are proficient now? Come on.

  Perhaps these people that suddenly became outraged should just shut up and go away and the federal government can just continue on with their spending habits unhindered.
  
  Reguardless of the motives of some, it will take a large amount of outrage from the populous to have even a small glimmer of hope that any real change will occur in Washington.
