I checked out of curiosity and there were between 8,000 and 9,000 folks at this meeting. How come the vote totals were so low? -
bigmanbtI know it's only a small number, but I have convinced about 10+ of my friends and family into voting for Ron Paul if he runs, and not just because I told them to but because they like his ideas. That's the great thing about Dr. Paul, his ideas are his charisma. Many of those 10+ people I enlightened about Dr. Paul I am sure will try to continue the message. That's how it starts. His support has only grown over the years.
And I wouldn't change a thing about his foreign policy. What right do we have to tell another country what they can and cannot do? And preventive war only leads to empty pockets and a reduction in civil liberties. -

Swamp FoxIf Ron Paul can beat Romney by 9%, I wouldn't call that "edging" him, I'd call that a pretty decisive victory. I would also say that the most surprised person with regard to the results of this Poll, is probably Ron Paul himself. Finally, i would say that if this margin doesn't narrow, Obama will have a much easier path to re-election. Now, this is all total conjecture at the present time, but perhaps you folks who like Ron Paul will work really hard and the entire nation will jump on the Ron Paul bandwagon. Perhaps Sarah Palin can join him on the ticket? Please don't get me wrong. I think that Mitt is a sleazebag politician who only wants one thing...to be President of the United States. I'm glad he lost to Ron Paul. It lessens his chances later on.

bigmanbtUgh.. I might not vote for Ron Paul if Sarah Palin is on his ticket. She can endorse him, but there's no way Ron Paul would have her on his staff.

if Ron Paul were to be elected, he would be approaching his 78th birthday when he took office in 2013. The age issue would be huge. I think we conservatives need to cross him off our list of viable candidates. He can be a paragon, but not president. -

Hits, yes Dr. Paul is too old. I've watched a few youtubes of him debating issues in the mid 80's. At that time he was very articulate and sharp as a tack. Comparing and contrasting Dr Paul in his early fifties with how he presents himself today, is like night and day.
If Bob Barr didn't have so many skeletons in his closet, I think he would be a good carrier of the torch for the old schooled conservatives. -

Ron Paul would never consider putting Palin on the ticket. That being said, I don't think Dr. Paul will run. bman618On the social programs and military spending debate, both need to be cut to try and get our financial books at least heading in the right direction. We can do responsible cutting and provide help for the needy and be a world power. Both sides are going to resist cuts to their holy cows, however.
We need to funnel some of the savings in reduced taxes and incentives to try and rebuild our manufacturing center so we can increase our real national wealth and be in a better position as a country.
Our dependency on foreign manufacturing to provide our military with basic items such as bullets is ridiculous. Not to mention outsourcing some of our sensitive military technology to foreign producers. -

Wise men don't market themselves as associated with fools ... so I sincerely hope Palin is out. As far as his age, I think it's up to him. If Paul thinks he can serve effectively, he'll get my vote. -

That being said, the POTUS must be able to get on the stump and inspire/motivate the populous. It's a huge part of the job, and one which I've seen no sign that Dr. Paul can pull off effectively. -

I respectfully disagree. Dr. Paul has obviously captured the interest of some, seeing as he won this straw poll. People know who he is now and he can make a big impact if he chooses to run for POTUS.fish82 wrote:
