When will it end (Pork spending)?

  • iclfan2
Congress has decided that although National Parks in America need $9 BILLION of maintenance, that they would spend $50 MILLION on a national park for all of us to enjoy. In the Virgin Islands, where no one will ever go. Thank you democrats for preserving this great land for our country, oh wait. *And yes it is a fox news article but has a link the the actual bill passed.

It will never end as long as Americans continue voting Republicrat allowing them to do whatever they want.

When we get rid of the national parks...

Thank you Democrats? Please...as if Republicans haven't passed pork. GTFO.

I believe that this thread is about this pork.

Stop trying to deflect 'blame' with that old and tired playground argument....."well, you did it too!"

Both parties are so tied to special interest groups that they can't help themselves. Until the American people stand up and revolt against these fatcats sitting in Washington, we are screwed.

And the party in power is who takes the current blame. This all the dems fault at the moment, and that can't be denied. Now, when the repubs take over in 2012 the coin will flip. sigh

Srsly? Anyone with half a brain can see what he's trying to do, and its a partisan hack job. They're both to blame, and I am not deflecting anything. You can't just start a thread about pork and blame Democrats as if Republicans are against it.

    Nope....sorry

Pork will always be with us and it is done with great enthusiasm by both parties because it gets those people elected over and over. The only way to stop it is to completely outlaw it and it simply won't happen. Using a pork project to criticize one of the parties and credit the other as being completely above such shenannigans is totally misleading and completely untrue.

Reading an awful lot in it, aren't you???

Partisan hack job?? Who voted for this????

"Two weeks ago, on a near party line vote, a huge Democratic majority in the House agreed to spend $50 million to buy the former cotton plantation on the island of St. Croix.

Democrats approved the purchase, even though the National Park Service has yet to complete a study on the purchase."

Seems to me that only the party in control is to blame.

    Not deflecting anything?????

Your only reply was "Please...as if Republicans haven't passed pork. GTFO" That's called deflecting it...no matter how you want to spin it.

I (sic) can't just start a thread about pork and blame Democrats as if Republicans are against it??????

S(e)r(iou)sly? Did you even read the article?? Anyone with 'half a brain' can see that this expenditure, approved along party lines by a Democrat controlled House, is the 'fault' of the controlling party.

    You FAIL.

I can think of a lot worse things that our money has/will be spent on.

    lol...ok dude.

I'll hold my breath for you to call out the Republicans on pork.
  • iclfan2
Umm Derek I was referring to this article. I think our entire government is dumb and spends money on stupid stuff. This one caught my attentiong this morning on a blog so I posted it. Do you really think if Republicans had voted for this I would think it is less stupid? The answer is no. I actually have a brain that can think. I am to the right on most issues but am not dumb enough to blindly follow party lines, if a republican does something stupid I would call them out on it.

    That all 'ya got???

I have and will continue to call out Republicans and Democrats alike for pork barrel spending. However, this one is squarely on the D's.

Come on....you can agree with me! It won't hurt too much....and won't jeopardize your Dem status.

    Honest!

I'm not registered as a Democrat, and I don't disagree that this spending is stupid - that wasn't my point. I just hate threads like this where someone blames something (like pork - even if you are referring to a specific line in a bill) all on one side...it's never one sided, both sides suck.

As ICLFAN2 and the article stated.....this one belongs to the Democrats.

And you can blame "this one" on Democrats all you want. "this one" amounts to nothing, absolutely nothing, in the grand scheme of pork, and pork amounts to nothing in the grand scheme of the budget. Each side is to blame for pork. If there was a culture where it wasn't accepted by one side, the other wouldn't do it. So because they're not against it when they are in power, you can argue R's are just as much to blame (if you wanna play that game...which I don't).

Man, reading comprehension is a challenge for you, isn't it.

As I stated in my post at 1:51pm today, I will continue to call out both Democrats and Republicans for pork barrel spending. I cannot speak for others......but to blame anyone other than those who voted for this pork is fantasy. Sure, there is a culture of pork spending, but that has to change sometime....and the sooner the better. Your argument is analagous to the circle of welfare....why not break that circle by holding those currently responsible accountable for it?

BTW....$50,000,000 is nothing to you?? Yes, I understand in the scheme of a multi-trillion dollar budget deficit that is projected for htis year, $50 million is a drop in the bucket....but you have to start somewhere, don't you??

    /thread

Not even because he's right, but because he used logic and that will cause the heads of most of the mental giants around here to explode.

You guys can continue to argue petty bullshit the rest of the way out, but the answer in the grand scheme of things is in the quotes above.

All this record setting pork spending is a direct reflection on how destructive lobbyists can be. I think most Americans would be A-OK with a complete moratorium on pork projects.

Obama should step up to the plate here and denounce the whole thing....but he won't. The last one that complained publicly, was Reagan.

Doesn't anyone want to know about the sex life of a tsetsie fly? Or how to improve the quality of a peanut?

We're talking some serious shit here.
  • dwccrew
I agree that the big problem is the special interest groups. If we could remove them from Washington DC, along with most of the politicians in the pockets of the lobbyists, we'd be much much better off.

Our founding fathers must be rolling in their graves.
