Boston Tea Party....Republican Scott Brown Wins in Massachusetts Senate Election

queencitybuckeyeHe is without question for making government a bigger part of our lives. Even if one is one the side who believes this to be a good idea, it should be clear that we can't afford it.

Agree with what you're saying, but that doesn't mean he is a socialist.queencitybuckeye wrote: He is without question for making government a bigger part of our lives. Even if one is one the side who believes this to be a good idea, it should be clear that we can't afford it. -

He's continuing down the path to economic ruin that those who came before him started us down, and instead of turning around, he's picking up the pace. I don't really give a damn about the label.cbus4life wrote:

believerThe interesting thing to me is how the media was trying to sell us on the notion that the 2006 mid-term elections and the 2008 presidential elections signaled the end of the conservative movement or at least the decline of the Republican Party.
Amazingly the Dems imploded and disproved that idea in incredibly rapid fashion.
In my opinion the following blunders created this mess for the Dems:
1. The poorly planned and executed $787 Billion Porkulus Package that was ramrodded through Congress. You know the one that just had to be done quickly to keep unemployment from going above 8%...
2. The promise of transparency by BHO and Congressional leadership with regard to the health care bill only to have multiple closed-door sessions, payoff's, and union concessions on the so-called Cadillac plans.
3. Refusal by Pelosi and Reid to allow Republicans to have a true voice in the health care bill negotiations.
4. Refusal of Congressional politicians to actually listen to the people's voices as they expressed grassroots concern over government-controlled health care during the town hall meetings this past summer. HUGE mistake.
5. Talk of a second Porkulus Package since the first one worked so well.
How the Dems recover going forward to November 2010 will be determined by how they respond to the Massachusetts wake-up call.
I hope they continue on their parade of stupid arrogance. November 2010 could make November 1994 pale in comparison. -

Good points, yes, but I also think specifically in regards to the payoffs, and in addition to the union's sweetheart deal, there was the Louisiana Purchase and the Cornhusker Kickback.believer wrote: The interesting thing to me is how the media was trying to sell us on the notion that the 2006 mid-term elections and the 2008 presidential elections signaled the end of the conservative movement or at least the decline of the Republican Party.

But even with all those shenanigans, people just see BHO as an incredibly arrogant person leading an incredibly arrogant group of congressional leaders. -

I think it is a sign that the Dems are in hot water and perhaps in deep shit. The fact that a Republican hasn't won a seat in Mass. in over 30 years speaks volumes. I think we see alot of incumbent canidates removed from office in the next election. I know I'll be voting against every incumbent canidtate as they have shown to be ineffective at every level. Who needs an experienced canidate when they have been screwing it up for years?ccrunner609 wrote: Ok now either way you look at it, the democratic party is under the gun. This election WAS a huge blunder on Obama. Remember he was just there on Sunday. He was in Virginia also.
The Dems had a whole year to get things lined up with their 60 seat majority. THey have failed miserably. To many back room meetings, to many TV apearances spewing talking points thinking Americans are just dumb enough to believe them, to much money spent on nothing...........
If I were the Dems in the House and Congress I wouldnt pass anything that isnt truey partisan. They own this shit now, not Bush. If it were 11/2010 or 11/2012 it would be ugly. -
Full_countEveryone is now pointing the blame at someone else for the loss of Obama's signature program, but there is ONE person who has not been mentioned.... TED KENNEDY.
Yes, the champion of Health Care in the end cost the Democrats their real shot at passing what they wanted.
Ted Kennedy was diagnosed with brain cancer well over year before he died. He knew that his time was short, but he stayed in the Senate. He missed lots of Senate meetings and cast votes only when absolutely necessary to get something passed for the Dems agenda. Many times he would arrive in Washington and stay only long enough to get in the chamber, vote and leave as his health slowly deterioriated.
The last few months, he (and eveyone close to him) knew he was dying and only had months or weeks to live. BUT he still kept his Senate seat. Then he died....but by the time he died, public sentiment had turned against the Dems and it opened the door for what happened this week.
Now what if Ted Kennedy had resigned in 2008 with enough time for the Senate election for his seat to be on the same election as Obama's sweeping victory.... the seat remains in the Democratic column at least through 2012.... no Scott Brown.
What if Ted Kennedy had resigned early in 2009.... Special election in the early summer when Obama is still extremely popular. Again, a Democratic victory is quite likely.
BUT no, old Teddy boy won't give up his seat until he dies. Setting up a battle for his seat and a loss of the seat and most of the Health Care plan now when public opinion has swayed.
Stubborness and a refusal to give up even a little power by Ted Kennedy is what cost the Dems the Health Care Plan they wanted.
(and Robert Byrd of West Virginia is another one who is doing the same thing. He has to be wheeled into the chamber and can't stay long due to his ill health. And what is Scarier is that 100+ year old Byrd is Third in line to the Presidency behind Biden & Pelosi since he is President Pro-Tempore of the Senate.) -
CenterBHSFanI like the remake of this movie!!!

BoatShoesWhether you're on the right or the left there's one thing we can all agree on. For the first time in 50 years, we can feel safe asking the Senator from Massachusetts for a ride home.

Robert Byrd probably does not have the power to wipe his own ass. The real power behind these dinasaurs are their aids. Most likely their chiefs of staff.Full_count wrote: (and Robert Byrd of West Virginia is another one who is doing the same thing.
