Harry Reid Said What?!?!?!?! Calls Obama "Light Skinned" and "No Negro Dialect"

    I dont see what the big deal is, Reid is simply practicing his 1st Ammendent right. I think it's ridiculous that no one can make a comment about Obama without being called a racist. If McCain had won, I'm sure people would make jokes about his age, but no one would be called an ageist.

    The 1st amendment doesn't protect one from being called out for saying something stupid.

    The bottom-line is if a Republican uses the term "Negro" (or similar politically incorrect terminology) regardless of the context in which it was used his or her political career is usually all but finished.

    If a Democrat uses it the left - including the African American left - sweep it under the rug and say, "Well, it may have been an unfortunate choice of words but you have to view the use under the context in which it was used"....which of course is the typical hypocritical double standard that pervades the DC political scene.

    Correct, and what is particularly important and overlooked is the fact that the left will defend him by saying that his record is one of defending and fighting for blacks etc..etc.... yet it is the very liberal, democrat Great Society programs and the trillions spent thereon that have continued to impoverish and effectively enslave many blacks for decades.

    Thus, his remarks are not just racist but when viewed in the context of his actions and those of his party, are also incredibly hypocritical.

    Racist/hypocrite/liar .............................. when will the sheeple wake up.

    I have one other bone to pick with this issue. When a Conservative has an extramarital affair or some other issue that questions the issue of morality, the Left will chant the issue is hightened by the fact the Republicans are the party of "Family Values".

    Well, cant' the same be argued against the Democrats? I mean, they claim to be the champion of minorities in this country. Doesn't any hint of intolerance or a racial slur have greater weight because of this?

    A think a lot of the problem with the perceived differing treatment of Lott and Reid, if indeed there is any, comes from stereotypes of Republicans.

    We often hear about stereotypes and it has become this "buzz word." But, stereotyping, as a cognitive process, is really just a way for our brains to organize a lot of information in ways that appear to be coherent and coincide with our experience. When we observe Barack Obama, and his voting record, something in our minds, the way we organize information, we expect that deep down, he believes in strong welfare state domestic policies, etc...even though he's consistently talked about cutting taxes and free market economics and cutting the deficit...and so, when he says to Joe the Plumber, "Spread the Wealth Around"; the right comes out of the woodwork to proclaim "Ah Ha, we knew it all along!"

    With Trent Lott, we have the general, stereotypical, white Republican bred in southern ground. Deep down, it's believed, just based on experience, that this guy down his gut, this guy might have a racist bone. Then when he says something supposedly racist..."Ah Ha! He's racist! We knew it!"

    When Harry Reid says "Negro"; we never saw it coming...this bumbling, harmless, old man who speaks ever so softly and looks so meek certainly can't be a racist. It doesn't mesh well with our preconceived notions that our brain stores away in our unconscious minds to make the organization of every day life easier...so we just let it go by the wayside.

    Having lived in the South for 7 years as well as the North, I see what you mean. People assume a white man with a thick Southern drawl is automatically a racist (people also assume they are not as intelligent or well educated but that is another topic for another day). The exceptions to this rule are Jimmy Carter, James Carville and Bill Clinton. Carville is considered too hip, Carter to dorky and Clinton is, of course, our first black president ;)

    Limbaugh did not say no to any aid. Just aid filtered through the federal beaurocracy. An opinion in which I concure. After all the feds don't have the best record when it comes to the efficient use of our dollars. I would suggest if you have the means to give find a reputable charity and donate.

    Oh and by the way Foot, he has lost 80lbs. I think his lunch money would go a long way.

    As for Robertson, he thought they said Hades. You don't hear so well in old age. LOL.

    What I find disgusting...the 50,000 dead Haitians and the horror of it all. But 50,000 dead Haitians pale in comparison to the human carnage after we bombed the shit out of Baghdad.

    There was more death and destruction that March morning in 2003. i noticed that nobody was passing the hat around for these Iraqi women and children.

    Oh, my bad...those women and children were hoarding all those WMD.

    But, you forget, Arab lives are worth far less than the lives of others.

    How fortunate it is for Americans to decide whose lives they are going to care about this week, ignoring the rest that goes around us, a lot of it of are own doing.

    Destroying the lives of thousands of innocent civilians in a needless war in Iraq is just as great a tragedy as that taking place in Haiti at the moment.

    Both are horrendous, and we should do all we can to help rebuild, Haiti as a result of a natural disaster, and Iraq as a result of our own misguided and bloated and immoral military complex.

    The difference here is that all those Iraqi's needed a bomb or 2 too wake them up and show them that they brought this on themselves for standing idle and let a tyrant run their country and lives.
    Lol. Yep, those children should have been out and about ousting Hussein and taking back the country.
