Electoral Predictions

I posted my prediction in the 'No Other Options' thread but thought it would be interesting to start a running thread of Electoral College predictions. There's a nice interactive map on RCP.

I'm going with 279 Clinton to 259 Trump

mmmh... I'm going to go with something closer than that. Hillary will win, but in a much tighter clip.

I'm not sure what your definition of close is than! 279-259 would already be the 2nd closest electoral result in the past 44 years. Only Bush v Gore would be closer.

    Hill by 8!
  • Spock
    Trump by 4

Be ready for an October big surprise ... Hillary health issue and deplorable type comments is only the beginning, something else will surface .. Bill and Obama can't fix or hide her any longer ...

Unless there is a large group of "silent" trump that are not accounted for in these polls, Hillary will win in a landslide.

Trump has been polling ahead this week and I don't expect that to change. Things will only get worse for H Rod as her health continues to deteriorate and Assange continues to destroy her character.

While I don't think anyone is making totally invalid points, we already have plenty of threads dedicated to pointing out the vast shortcomings of each candidate. Let's try to keep this one to predictions. Just thought it would be fun to have something to look back to in November and see who called it.

Highly doubt it happens. I am willing to bet trump will not have a great showing at the debates.

We see in yesterday's email dump that Powell stated that Hillary hates obama. First, I thought liberals were not haters --( lol -- hypocrites of the highest order). Second, I look forward to the email dump which includes her calling him the N word. That would be hilarious.

I think there is 10% chance of Hillary losing especially co,sidering Trump is now running ads saying Hillary called working people deplorable and almost passed out on her face on camera and is still winning.

I think there is a greater than 50% chance Hillary wins the same states Obama won in 2012.

GOP holds Congress and the parties have completely flipped from late 20th century when dems ran the states and congress but barely held the presidency.

I still think Hillary will win, but the media does her no favors. Pushing issues that matter to literally no one (calling an explosion a bombing (which it was!), pretending it isn't terrorists, etc) are pissing off a lot of people regardless of political affiliation.

The thing that trump has on his side is the people who haven't voted before that are now registering this election to vote for trump. I truly think there will be a lot of those that might push trump over the edge. It will be interesting for sure

I don't think there is any way to accurately project the outcome of this election. It's unlike any in our nation's history.

For one, the polls bounce back and forth more than I've ever seen. Trump seems to be surging right now and in the lead or tied; a few weeks ago it looked like he was going to get throttled. In almost every swing state that has an important amount of delegates (Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Virginia, Georgia, Michigan, Iowa), it's a back-and-forth battle.

Last night's debate (believe it or not) helped Trump even more. Undecided voters, in early reports, tended to sway towards Trump. Those undecided voters will be who wins the election.

I don't see Clinton putting her foot in her mouth again (like the "deplorables" comment), she had the opportunity last night and kept her cool. Trump inevitably will do that. He did several times last night by acknowledging some of his mistakes (housing market crash, sexist comments, etc). Clinton is equally as guilty of these mistakes, but she's smart enough not to take Trumps bait when he brings them to light and doesn't comment. I think in the end, that will be what decides the election. Unless, of course, the Clinton email saga drops a bomb or she has more health issues. Then Trump may win in a land slide.
