Government Shutdown 2015?

HitsRusI never generalized that anyone was pissing away money....I only said people are responsible for their own choices, and cited basic personal economics principles. It is pretty standard advice, that no matter how young you are, or how little you make, that you need to put some away in your emergency fund. If you can't put $50 then put $40, If you can't do $40 then $30, or $25. It takes discipline to put money away, as there are always things that you want and it's so easy to spend it. People that find that they absolutlely cannot put anything away, should be looking and acting to improve their situation so that they can.....we are talking able body people here......not the handicapped or challenged or infirm. What they don't need to hear, is some sycophant politician telling them that it's somebody elses fault and responsibility. People need to empower themselves, not feel sorry or helpless and thus enslave themselves to dependency.

Obviously this is a small quarrel but you never specified who this example is about. But my wife and I along with our 13-month old daughter don't spend $300/month on groceries, and groceries is probably that one expense where money gets wasted the most with us.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1750065 wrote:Ok so at 20,000 a year, getting paid twice a month, your take home is ~$522 a check or ~$1044 a month. You live in shit poorville and rent is $400 a month. You pay $30 a month to ride Sarta. Your groceries are $300 a month. Your utilities eat up most of the remaining 300 a month. That's assuming you never go to the hospital or have any incurred costs which is impossible. Tell me where you're saving? -

Definitely not going to say you're lying, but you must be very efficient and don't realize it. Our family spends more than twice that on groceries. I don't think we could possibly spend less either unless we decided to be unhealthy.friendfromlowry;1750630 wrote:Obviously this is a small quarrel but you never specified who this example is about. My wife and I spend at least $200 a month on groceries shopping at ALDI and buying meat at regular stores. But, we are not the type of family that lives on $20k and relies on groceries every day as we eat out a lot, buy lunch every day and don't eat breakfast.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1750637 wrote:Definitely not going to say you're lying, but you must be very efficient and don't realize it. In any case seriously consider if every person started spending 10% less on groceries or refused to use credit cards for groceries. Immediate recession. -
