september63How can someone in Stuebenville, whom is on welfare, be a conservative?
-
Al CaponeHere is a simple test to find out.
A liberal asks what can the government do to better my life.
A conservative asks how can I better my life. -

1. You spelled Steubenville wrong.september63 wrote: How can someone in Stuebenville, whom is on welfare, be a conservative?
2. Not on welfare.
3. Not from Steubenville.
4. You are still an asshole. -
IggyPride00I think it depends.
I am socially very conservative, but on some (not all) domestic issues I am apt to be sometimes a little more populist/liberal on. It all depends on what the issue at hand is.
I think it is hard to paint someone with a broad brush like that as an either or thing though, as many people take a more nuanced approach to how they look at issues. -

Not just libertarians, but also authoritarians and moderates.believer wrote: The libertarians are gonna cry foul for being left out!
There are 5 basic political philosophies: authoritarian, libertarian, left, right conservative, and moderates.
This question is also too vague. True liberals and true conservatives are not represented by the philosophies of today. -

I am not sure. Can you define liberal and conservative?bigdaddy2003 wrote: Simple question.

ernest_t_bassI am a conservative who believes in small government, the freest of free markets, and nothing but glass ceilings.
Oh, and also a fan of no affirmative action, or any other laws like that. Best person, best fit for the company, etc... gets the job. Period. -

I'm probably a mix of fiscal conservatism (as well as national defense) with liberal on social issues (gay marriage, legalizing drugs). So the total conservative tag doesn't really fit me.believer wrote: The libertarians are gonna cry foul for being left out! -
Gobuckeyes1I am generally center-left, but I do share some positions with my conservative friends.
This entire question is loaded. Politics is not a dichotomy. -

So then I take it that conservatives are against a government set military. I guess you learn something new everyday. -
fish82A teaspoon of conservative, a dash of liberal, and 8 heaping cups of cool.

I Wear Pants
Well, it doesn't serve any purpose (not that internet threads inherently need purpose). It's far too narrow to be able to find any real meaning in the poll.bigdaddy2003 wrote:

bigdaddy2003Hm well maybe you can put a better poll up for us then.
-
I Wear PantsNo I can't because I don't care what you consider your political leaning to be. I like to hear and debate the opinions of different minded people on certain topics but I really don't care if you consider yourself conservative or liberal.
Not trying to be a Debbie Downer or anything but I just don't see the goal of this thread. Although I said I don't care so I guess you should just ignore what I said and carry on.
