    Hope he pulls through.

Just a historical footnote. He is the last living president that served in a direct combat role for the USA. He was shot down during WWII in the Pacific theater. His co-pilots perished.

He was also Amb to China and Director of the CIA.
He served his country extremely well.

He also guided us through the unknowns of the end of the collapse of the Soviet Union without a massive war or chaos.
    Really underrated President.
I hope he pulls through, but his health has been fading for over a year.

Probably will forever hold the "only former president to skydive at age 85" record too.

Between his son, himself, and Obama, he was probably the only one that deserved a 2nd term but the only one that didn't win it. Goes to show you how stupid the general public is.

    exactly

Considering 51% of Americans apparently think 8% (+) unemployment and an on-going bad economy are now good enough to re-elect someone as inept as the Appointed One, in retrospect it seems odd that Bush senior's "read my lips" renege and Clinton's "it's the economy stupid" mantra were sufficient to prevent his re-election.

I guess it's the "hope & change" thing that made all the difference.

I was young but I can remember rooting for him to beat Clinton because my parents voted for Bush. I remember feeling briefly sad when he lost in the way kids feel sad when their team loses. Hopefully he pulls through. The country could use a bit of good news in the wake of Newton and the political gridlock in D.C.
