Now I might applaud him if Defense took up 60% of the budget, as it did in JFK's day. But it doesn't. Obama is a complete fraud when it comes to trimming budgets, and this pseudo display of frugality doesn't change my opinion.

  2. I count one "needless war" (singular) enacted by Bush- Iraq. The overwhelming majority of US money and blood in Iraq/Afghanistan was spent rebuilding infrastructure and government in the hopes that the new ruling body would remain stable and not threaten our interests or security. I and others have maintained that we should not have rebuilt a thing until the Taliban, et al, surrendered. But we thought the native population would appreciate our efforts to rid them of tyrants and extremists. That was a bad policy.

  Just the war costs of doing business there pard. Bush announced a "budget" of sorts in allocating 50 billion to open and shut his "Doctrine" and sating the lust of the Krauthammers and Kristols of the neocon world.

Or everyone who thinks the Israeli/Jewish lobby is not behind every US foreign policy decision automatically falls under those labels? Can't your argument stand on its own two feet without throwing names around?

  I never claimed that everyone who disagrees with me is a chickenhawk. Your words, never mine. But I have a particular disdain for people that have no clue as to the realities of war....yet are the first to clamor for US militarization around the globe.

  Well...allow me to introduce to you...Mr. John Hagee....he of multimillion dollar TV fame...who is quite proud of his preferance for nuking Iran and thus wiping them off the map. A loving, Christlike man indeed. I can think of no better hastening of Armageddon than the nuking of Iran, can you?

  The nuking of Iran is not a hastening of Armageddon but rather a further delay of it. That's kind of the point.
  
  Christians don't believe Armagddon will occur until after the return of Chriist. That isn't going to take place until all people of the earth are exposed to the message of the Gospel.

  You're delusional if you believe one John Hagee can hasten Armageddon simply because he's hoping the Feds will nuke Iran and you're further delusional if you believe Hagee is anywhere near powerful enough to make that happen.   Here is where organized religion fails me. Christians claim that Christ will return someday. Will he recognize those whose religions do not acknowledge him? The myth of religion, IMO, is that they can't all be right. My personal belief is that they're all wrong, nothing more than old stories passed down from generation to generation and given legitimacy by their respective organization, which need your money to keep alive.

  He will recognize them but not as one who will receive eternal life with Him. He does provide them one more opportunity after the rapture of the Church.
