Hurricane Sandy - The Political Side

So I was thinking, where are all the bleeding heart celebs? Had this happened under a Republican POTUS, they would be all over TV raising money and blaming the administration. The Red Cross raised 4 Billion for Hurricane Katrina, and only 11 million so far for Sandy, which levied much more devastation.

Not only that, but if you're non-union, you can't help the recovery effort in New Jersey:

    http://dailycaller.com/2012/11/02/new-jersey-town-to-ala-volunteer-utility-crew-dont-help-with-sandy-unless-youre-unionized/
[LEFT]Utility crews from several states East of the Mississippi River hit the road this week to volunteer their time and talents in Northeastern states hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. But crews from Alabama got the shock of their lives when other workers in a coastal New Jersey town told them they couldn’t lend a hand without a union card.

Derrick Moore, who works for Decatur Utilities in Decatur, Ala., told WAFF-TV in Huntsville that crews in Seaside Heights, N.J. turned him and his crewmates away, saying they couldn’t do any work there because they’re not union employees.

As a result, crews from Decatur and Huntsville left the Jersey shore and headed to Long Island to pitch in.
WAFF’s Mark Thornton reported that Moore and his coworkers “are frustrated being told, in essence, ‘thanks, but no thanks.’”

Another nonunion Decatur Utilities crew is idling in Roanoke, Va., waiting for instructions from Seaside Heights. The town asked them days ago for help, but later told the workers to stand down.

A rejected crew from the Joe Wheeler Electric Membership Co-op in Trinity, Ala. has already turned around and headed back to Dixie.

Electric repair work for public utilities in New Jersey is dominated by the International Brotherhood Of Electrical Workers, a unit of the politically powerful AFL-CIO.

Many parts of coastal New Jersey are projected to be without electric power for at least seven to 10 more days.

Also, they are preparing for the NYC marathon, while New Yorkers are dumpster diving for food, and people are being removed from hotel rooms to make room for marathon runners and administrators.

Having the marathon this weekend is a terrible idea. They should dedicate every resource available to helping people.

why didn't you link to any of the numerous reports/interviews where Christy and Bloomberg have praised Obama?

That's been covered ad nauseum on other threads.

Also, that was the day of and day after the storm hit. Seems like things aren't going so smoothly now. The bureaucratic red tape of FEMA has things at a virtual stand still. They're asking people to CALL to make claims. People have lost everything they own, how the hell can they call to make a claim?

His honor can't keep emergency power on at the hospitals, but at least his constituents are safe from Big Gulps. Save us from the nanny-state idiots.

The people finally win...marathon cancelled. How much time was wasted though.

They and the marathon fiasco are related by an incompetent at the helm of our largest city.

I'm glad they made the right decision and didn't pull valuable resources for the marathon.

You mean why didn't I link in the Christie soundbites from the campaign where he grilled obama as he so much deserves. I personally attended a Romney rally in Lordstown where Christie was introduced by a UAW member and proceeded to dismantle obama.

    Probably not, to you
