Did the Obama administration lie about the embassy attacks?

He won an election but NEVER stopped campaigning. The parade of talk shows, interviews, etc.... just kept on going. And from direct and indirect quotes we've seen, it appears he was far more consumed by re-election than he ever was with fixing the country. And so these are the results to be expected.

Thread shouldn't be IF he lied but how much and how blatantly did he lie?

You could tell this in the first debate. After almost 4 years of softball interviews, few real press conferences, and hardly any challenging questions, the Prez looked really uncomfortable when he and his policies were finally called to account.

As for Libya, if half of what these military veterans are saying is true, then this scandal will bring Obama down even if the election does not:

The president continued to duck and dodge this morning and expressed 'outrage' that he was being criticized for his policies, his handling of the attack, and the information his administration fed the public.

Yesterday, John McCain got on Face the Nation and blasted the Libya situation as a "cover-up or incompetence".

I've said before that I believe there is a very strong chance this could lead to impeachment proceedings. Especially when Hilary is forced to testify. I think she will gladly throw Obama under the bus, but not until she is forced to, in order to keep favor with the Democratic party.

As abhorrent as this may be, I fail to see how this rises to the level of impeachment. And not sure I could support that given it would mean Biden becomes POTUS.

I think it is pretty obvious that they knew what was going on in real time, but for one reason or another, he failed/refused to pull the trigger on a rescue. It would have taken a direct order from the CIC for U.S. planes/forces to deliberately enter Libya's airspace. There are alot of possible reasons...none of which would/will look very good if/when the truth comes out. Probably not impeachable....Hence...all the obfuscation.
It is interesting to note, how he keeps trying to make to make us pull our eyes off the ball by acting outraged that people would insinuate that his administration has not been 'transparent' and less than forthcoming. But all the information that we are getting is coming thru journalists and not the White House. Further, he keeps going back to "We are going to investigate, fix it, and get those responsible"....all of which he'll do at his leisure AFTER the election. He knows what went down...he just doesn't want it public.

Hopefully he's golfing permanently in a few months.

And I hope he takes GW's lead and slinks quiety into the background. Somehow I don't think that will be the case.

    ...much too narcissistic, he is.

    Per the article from Hits:
"Obama suggested that once the debt is dealt with, he would be able to shrink government and create jobs through infrastructure projects, like building roads.
Lies. Flat out lies. He's no more interested in cutting the size of government than he is swimming in the Long Island Sound right about now.
This is the kind of thing that is so frustrating. Don't push out an idea that, in your core beliefs, you just don't have. You cannot actually think that people will believe you when from day one you have said the opposite.
    This guy is just unbelievable.
"I will have the most transparent administration" - as a good example.

And as far as him claiming offense... I'm calling BS on that too. He did nothing to discourage the heavily repeated claims of the attack being the result of some video on youtube.

    good gawd!

Same. He'll be back to Community Agitating within a month.

Once again, Jon Stewart puts it all into perspective.

Ignatius strikes the right tone in this column. Questions need answered, but he does not jump to conclusions:

7 weeks later and the only questions being answered, and information divulged, is coming from sources other than where it should be. If you make transparency an issue, then you should be transparent. If you take responsibility, than take responsibilty in actions as well as words. The 'fog' of war takes on a new meaning when smoke and mirrors are all you get from the White House. They know what went on and who and what decisions were made and they have been less than forthcoming. Leon Panetta summed it up well...."there's an awful lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on..." Read between the lines....Somebody was quarterbacking Sunday afternoon...and they didn't do very well. In keeping with this football analogy....The Pres. sounds an awful lot like a Pat Shurmur post game analysis after he got beat.... "well we played really hard....we are going to investigate what went wrong and we are going to fix it....and mark my words, we are going to get them next time." Okay.

To his credit, the Pres. was on top of his game in handling the big storm...and put forth the sentiment that "We will leave no American behind!".............ugh... except the 4 in Benghazi.

Lets have a body count to see which Presidents should have resigned under Belly's guidelines.

obama calls on the Seals to take out bin Laden; they answer the call.

The Seals call on obama to send support; he goes to Vegas to campaign, and they die.

    Change we can believe in.....

Sounds like there will be documents released showing that the Consulate in Benghazi requested extra security three weeks prior to the 9/11 attack.

    ^^^The picture Facebook censored.

Shit is getting real. Now it's coming out that they were warned weeks before that they couldn't withstand a coordinated attack.

1.How did they get a "classified" cable unless there is a leak in the State Department?

Key paragraph for those insisting this is a "smoking gun":
[LEFT]As for specific threats against the U.S., the cable warned the intelligence was not clear on the issue, cautioning that the militias in Benghazi were not concerned with any significant retaliation from the Libyan government, which had apparently lost control in Benghazi. A briefer explained that they “did not have information suggesting that these entities were targeting Americans but did caveat that (there was not) a complete picture of their intentions yet. RSO (Regional Security Officer) noted that the Benghazi militias have become more brazen in their actions and have little fear of reprisal from the (government of Libya.)”

That's more than enough to heighten security, or at the very least have troops ready to move at a moments notice. Hell, the fact that it was 9/11 in a country known to harbor terrorist cells should've been enough to have troops ready.
