Is this another Obama failure that wants to be forgotten and not talking about by the bias media?

Has Obama agenda created it’s our education goal failure, has the greediness of the Educational Liberalism over stepped it means or is this another Obama smoke and mirror.. for votes

Umm, why is enrollment lower, because college is so freaking expensive.
College tuition rates have skyrocketed the last ten years, as a combination of states cutting higher education, and the money needed for R&D being passed off to undergrads.
Also factor in higher book costs, higher cost of living on campus, and higher student loan interest rates.
Add it all together, and for many families hurting this recession, the cost of college is too damn high.

It's sad, but reality. Is it the fault of Obama, sure. But, if you want to also lay blame, blame Congress and states for gutting funding for higher education.

Perhaps the common sense of self-selection is beginning. A person might want to become a lawyer, but if they're a mediocre student maybe they look at the field and say "gee, there's 3 lawyers for every legal job out there...might not be the move for me".

Reading this forum for more than 15 minutes accomplishes said agenda as well

The frequently heard quote "guns dont kill people, people kill people" is testimony to just how dumb America is. Nobody should ever be "shocked" when things like the Aurora shootings take place in America...we have condoned this type of violence since the 60s and our depth of stupidity knows no limit.

You could blame those bastards for cutting every kind of education funding out there from Kindergarten all the way through secondary education. We've got a serious priority problem when we're increasing prison and military and drug war budgets and cutting the hell out of education budgets.

Anecdote: I didn't get a Pell Grant this year and I'm pretty sure it's related to this. Fuckers.

Roads, bridges, libraries, schools, satellites, electricity, etc. We'd probably have none of that in BFE Ohio or it would have taken a hell of a lot longer to happen without government assistance at some level.

And I understand perfectly fine how capitalism works.

Yeah, we definitely need to keep the filthy proletariat out of higher education. Needs to be only for the wealthy.

You are partly correct. However, the cost has risen to the point where it is only a privilege for rich people. The smart kids should be able to go to college. The not-so-smart kids need to find an occupation that doesn't require college. Cost should only be a slight barrier, not THE barrier.

Cost should only be a barrier to the degree that it covers the cost of running the school and paying the staff and faculty.

50-60% graduation rates is part of the problem. That's financially ruinsome to those who don't get their degree. And costs get prohibitively higher for the lazy dumb asses who can't make it thru in 4 years. Colleges could probably help that by encouraging more focus on a path and major, as opposed to facilitating the meandering path to finding what one wants to do. Colleges need to stop pushing the bullshit that you should take your time to "find what you love". A 22-yr old isn't likely to find that. Get a good degree that can get you a decent job should be the only priority.

Pretty much what a trade school does?

The liberals have pissed all over trade schools as if going there renders one some sort of second-class citizen.

Eh, I know plenty of Republican business people that wouldn't hire someone because of a trade school or a 2-year degree on their resume. I don't think "liberal" has anything to do with it.

Well, if their are applying for an accounting job or something with a trade school degree, it isn't entirely unjustifiable. My point was liberals keep pushing "everyone has a right to a college education" to an extreme, to the point where you're second class if you don't go, and reality is many WOULD be better off learning a trade. A perfectly fine option, but no one except maybe Santorum is talking about it.
