True, I just think this was taking it too far. It really is an indignity toward the office. I'm only a little less disappointed in a candidate doing this, but it's certainly below the office. I don't have an issue with twitter and the new media, but this isn't even a high-caliber talk show. At least keep it to something a little more appropriate like Piers Morgan or Anderson Cooper.ts1227;1152338 wrote:At this point you can classify it as creative campaigning toward young voters. I think what really doesn't sit well is the elaborate set-up. It's a whole other level then just going on Jimmy Fallon's show to do this - no, Jimmy Fallon brought his show to campus. Maybe he does that occasionally, but this was clearly a coordinated campaign stunt. -
justincredibleHe just won my vote. Just kidding.

Little DannyIn addition to the black vote, Obama already had the youth vote prior to this.
20 years ago democratic candidate William Jefferson Clinton played the Sax on the Arnsenio Hall Show. It worked wonders for him as he took a big jump in the polls afterwards (and I would argue set the ground work for the love affair he continues to have with the black community).
As others have noted, the worst thing about all this is that Obama (like Nero) is fiddling while Rome is burning. Of course, anyone who attempts to call him out on it is immediately casted as complaining about nothing, called a racist or is told they are just stupid. -

If you think him making an appearance on a television show is in anyway relevant to whether/how hard he's working on fixing the country's problems, you're almost certainly one(or more) of the above.Little Danny;1152811 wrote:Of course, anyone who attempts to call him out on it is immediately casted as complaining about nothing, called a racist or is told they are just stupid. -

That's today's political discourse, in both directions (just replace racist with socialist for the other side )Little Danny;1152811 wrote:As others have noted, the worst thing about all this is that Obama (like Nero) is fiddling while Rome is burning. Yeah because appearing on a television show obviously shows he isn't concentrating on the country. Get real. :rolleyes:ccrunner609;1152873 wrote:when you have the most important job in the world and it only lasts 4 years......yeah I think you do. He should probably be concentrating on how bad we are doing right now as a country. -

Pandering to get voters with an election coming up, the nerve!!!ccrunner609;1152879 wrote:you are correct...its not. He is pandering to voters to get reelected. What he should be doing is trying to get the 12% unemployment rate down. (and if you think its lower then that then you are an idiot)
Keep whining. -
raiderbuckIt's an election year. He's campaigning. Every elected official campaigns. Shut the fock up and move on.

What's even worse is you probably think policies that are being imposed over in Europe would have been a great idea...you know huge spending cuts, etc. and that is actually causing the potential breakup of the Euro.
Warren Harding publicly played poker at least twice a weak; Teddy Roosevelt challenged foreign heads of state to boxing matches; Thomas Jefferson had State Dinners in his pajamas and slippers; etc. etc. Demean the office my ass.
As if anything he proposed would be supported by the lot of the people who are annoyed by this. -
