Vote Yes For Issue 6
-
swooshAs most of you may know, the Indian Creek School District will be putting up a levy at March 6's ballot, aka Issue 6. If you vote for issue 6, Indian Creek will be able to get a brand new high school. Please, vote yes. This is the future of our city, our county, and our state. The future for OUR kids. Our current technology is very, for our school was built in the 1940's. There are leaks around the school, also. Our kids deserve better. Give our kids a better place to learn. Better schools, more people come to live here. More people come to live here, more jobs. More jobs, more money. More money, better lives and better futures. As some of you know, Creek also is one of the best schools in the Valley, academic-wise. In this proposed idea, our current 2 practice fields near Kettlewell Stadium will be transformed into the new high school. Our current high school will get demolished and get more parking, a new multi-purpose practice field, and a new baseball field. As also, our current football stadium will get MAJOR upgrades, bringing more competition to the valley. Although most had thought that the new one would be in Mingo, it will be in the current spot where our high school is now. Sounds good, huh? If you want your kids going to a more-modern, all-new remolded, high-tech high school, please, vote yes for ISSUE 6.

LETS GO CREEK!!!

HereticI'd love to help on this issue, but the whole "don't live anywhere near this district" thing might be a deal-breaker as far as, you know, voting for it.
-
sleeperI will vote no.

dwccrewIf I lived in that district I'd vote 'no' just for how poorly that plea for votes was worded. The author of that should be ashamed. I hope it isn't a teacher.

You could still vote yes. This is the future for our community's kids. Our kids would love to go to a high school that actually wasn't built in the 1930's.Heretic;1080029 wrote:I'd love to help on this issue, but the whole "don't live anywhere near this district" thing might be a deal-breaker as far as, you know, voting for it. -

My high school was built in the 1800's. Doesn't mean shit. A new building doesn't help a student learn, this is just a waste of money.IchsCreekPRIDE;1080036 wrote:You could still vote yes. Ok, well hit them in the head for such a poorly worded article and a 6 digit phone number. Idiots want a levy passed to "better" the education process yet they show to be ignorant themselves.IchsCreekPRIDE;1080040 wrote:I did not write it. I got it from someone else. -

Well a new high school would actually come in handy. Please vote yes.ytownfootball;1080041 wrote:People in hell would like ice water too... -

Can you please provide peer reviewed research that shows that a newer school provides a better education for students? One that preferable accounts for the bias that richer families can afford nicer schools and have children with a better at home support system to prop up their test scores.IchsCreekPRIDE;1080046 wrote:Well a new high school would actually come in handy. If not, everyone should vote no. -
sleeperAlso this thread being moved to politics just reinforces the idea that instead of going through the bullshit approval process(read: to make LJ feel special), just post all of your political threads in serious business.
Come on Justin, the rule is stupid, remove it. -

Better schools mean better technology. Better technology means better learning and better education. It's actually proven in a research that kids' brains work better in places they are comfortable in, and like. And how would you like to work in a place 8 hours a day with water dripping on your head and no air conditioning on a 97 degrees August day?sleeper;1080052 wrote:Can you please provide peer reviewed research that shows that a newer school provides a better education for students? Sorry, but I don't think there's anything out there that proves learning is enhanced by better technology. I'd love to see the study that links a child's brain development to being comfortable, this might add some credibility to your claim. Do you have a link?IchsCreekPRIDE;1080057 wrote:Better schools mean better technology. Better technology means better learning and better education. Also, my school was probably the worst school in history and we still popped out a decent amount of talent. I have a great job, I make really good money, you don't need a better high school, you need better parents. -

Fix the leak and put a few fans in each class room and let the kids wear shorts. The hottest part of the day is around 5:00 pm, School has already let out by then. I went to school without Air Conditioning as well as many others probally.IchsCreekPRIDE;1080057 wrote:Better schools mean better technology. If water is dripping on your head, wouldn't that balance out the heat from there being no air conditioning on a hot day? No problem here.IchsCreekPRIDE;1080057 wrote:Better schools mean better technology. Better technology means better learning and better education.
