O'Reilly lashes out at Dick Wolf

  • bigdaddy2003
You honestly think O'Reilly attacks people on a daily basis? He gets on my nerves with the way he thinks he is more intelligent than everyone but he rarely attacks anyone. You could put Rush and Beck in the same box as the Law and Order crew because they do push their beliefs but O'Reilly is different. I think he gets attacked because his show does so well. Like I said earlier Lou Dobbs has a right to be upset with his portrayal on the show. If you don't believe that then you need to step out of your ideological box.

This is just another example of supporting freedom of speech as long as you agree with what is being said. Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly and their ilk can say whatever they want on their shows...I really don't care. That's the beauty of free speech. But for any of them to get bent out of shape when someone reciprocates is hypocritical at best.
It is not hypocritical to speak out against something you disagree with. Why would a conservative speak out against a conservative viewpoint they agree with? Why would a liberal speak out against a liberal veiwpoint they agree with.

"Getting bent out of shape" is also free speech. I have yet to see anyone who is complaining, demanding the government silence the opposing viewpoints that they disagree with in the media. That would make them hypocrites. Otherwise they are just exercising their opinion and complaining about it in this thread. Just like you.

Well, actually, liberals would very much like to "silence" conservative radio by implementing draconian measures in the name of a fairness doctrine. It's been well discussed by many on here.

Of course, NOBODY on the right has ever come close to calling for this same kind of restriction of speech. What we're doing on here is calling out the blatant bias of the storylines -- not saying they should be censored.

Liberals are infamous for this very issue. The so-called "Fairness Doctrine" is a classic example.

It's perfectly legitimate for Hollyweird and the mainstream media to bombard everyone with clearly liberal mantra 24/7, but conservative talk radio is "unfair" and must be silenced (back-door censorship) by forcing station owners to air a product (IE: liberal talk radio) that has proven time and time again won't sell in that particular medium.

Just another demonstration of government over-regulation, anti-capitalism, and GENUINE hypocrisy from the left.

Prior to this point, if Bill O'Reilly or Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh had put LnO on blast on any of their shows and then complained about LnO saying what they said, then the "Hypocritical Card" can be played.
But, it hasn't been like that, so that argument is null and void.

It seems the difference between Limbaugh, O'Reilly, etc., and the media and the left generally is that the former rail about the ideas of the left, while the left likes to argue that Limbaugh and others shouldn't exist. Because of this type of tiresome nonsense, I have come to almost completely tune out the left, from tv shows to most network news to their newspapers. The only show I watch is Curb Your Enthusiasm, which is made by leftists, but they unwittingly usually offer up conservative humor.

I had no idea who Dick Wulf was until I read this thread. I'm glad to say I haven't wasted one second of my life watching that show.

What a great place this country would be if everyone was middle-of-the-road, instead of people sticking up for far left or right party lines. The far divide is what is REALLY wrong with this country.
Yeah, because all Catholics are radical hypocritical idiots.

Anyone who has watched/listened to Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity and Limbaugh for longer than two minutes would realize they are not one and the same. O'Reilly, by far, is much more liberal and what many would consider "middle of the road" than those other guys (particularly Hannity and Limbaugh). He has defended the Obama administration on numerous occasions and free speech rights.

I had DVR's the show and just watched it tonight.

What a joke (a bad one).

They made those radio personalities and their listeners out to be violent, neanderthals who would just as soon kill you as look at you.

But that's the message the left wants out there -- that those on the right are racist, violent and unreasonable -- even though it is LEFTISTS who almost always commit the violent acts, and not conservatives.

One of the ways to protect your ideology is label the other guy with the ills that actually affect your own people. It's not an unknown strategy, and the writer(s) of this episode used it perfectly.

I was speaking in the context of this thread. But you are correct, there are some in the realm of politics that seek to silence the opposing opinion by using the force of government.

That pretty much sums it up... :)

L&O had a similar story plot a few years ago when they had an Ann Coulter type character. The jist was she was the obnoxious blond who stirred up people with her political rheteoric. Of course, some nutjob follower went out and killed some muslim kid and they tried to link the murder to her.

What was interesting was how they portrayed Ann as some spoiled rich girl who really didn't believe in anything she said but was just out for ratings and despite the fact she trashed minitorities in her speech, had a lust for all of the minority males on the show. No spin there!

Definitely. Hating on someone's religion does wonders for closing the divide in this country.

ALL religion is hypocritical. Catholicism and Islam just seems to be the worst offenders.

    Generalization at its finest.

ALL people are hypocritical. Religion would be fine and all except for the fact that we are human and fuck up at times. I don't necessarily agree with everything the Catholic church says either, but I consider an attack on the religion I follow as a personal attack. I don't disrespect atheists or people that follow a different religion then I do. I wish other people would display a shred of decency and give other people some respect instead of embracing blind hate.
