The official "Sherrod Brown must go in 2012" thread

  • jhay78
    With all the focus lately on the 2012 presidential race, I thought it was necessary to pay a little attention to an important US Senate race here in Ohio. As a conservative, I am not exaggerating when I say that the US Senate is a veritable trainwreck of a disaster. Supposedly the most deliberative legislative body on the planet Earth, the Senate, led by Harry Reid, hasn't bothered to pass a budget in over 2 years and routinely refuses to hold votes on controversial legislation lest any of them be held accountable for a position one way or another.

    The Senate is the home of some of the most infamous RINO's in government today, people like Scott Brown, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain, etc, etc. It is also home to some of the most annoying, intellectually dishonest, far-left liberals in DC: Max Baucus, Barbara Boxer, Dick Durbin, Al Franken, John Kerry, Reid, Schmuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, etc etc.

    So who tops the list as most liberal? None other than our very own Sherrod Brown, who was brought to office in the Democrat wave of 2006.

    You may have heard of Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), the most liberal Senator. He recently made national headlines when he compared those of us who oppose unchecked union power to Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin.

    Now, Sherrod Brown is attacking those of us who oppose raising the debt limit without passage of the Balanced Budget Amendment. He said we "want to govern by ideology."

    Our nation's debt is over $14 trillion and skyrocketing, but Sherrod Brown believes it's extreme to demand Congress balance its budget. What he fails to recognize is that stopping the debt is not a matter of ideology, it's a matter of national survival.

    It's time to show Sherrod Brown the door.

    Sherrod Brown was recently ranked by National Journal as the "most liberal" politician in the entire U.S. Senate. He voted:
    FOR the $700 billion Wall Street bailout;

    FOR the $787 billion stimulus bill;

    FOR President Obama's government takeover of healthcare;

    FOR the Cash for Clunkers program;

    FOR the auto bailout;

    FOR union intimidation using "card check" elections;

    AGAINST permanent repeal of the death tax; and

    AGAINST the earmark moratorium.

    There is no bigger supporter in the U.S. Senate of big-government spending, bailouts, and debt than Sherrod Brown.

    Fortunately, Josh Mandel is proving himself to be a formidable conservative candidate to oppose Sherrod Brown.

    Missed this thread ..... you are exactly right; he is senator a la obama; what a radical.

    Isn't deficit spending to support a slew of entitlement and social programs "governing by ideology"?
  • queencitybuckeye
    Left of Bernie Sanders? What a scary place that would be.

    For some reason I am on the Sherrod Brown email list. Got an email today. Deleted it without even opening it... and I'm a registered democrat! He's just one of BHO's useful idiots as far as I'm concerned.
  • fish82
    Brown will be a tough out in '12. His numbers have stayed pretty solid over the past year. I'm not sure the level of resources the Pubs will put into unseating him...especially with all the other low hanging fruit out there.

    If Issue 2/SB5 fails next week, the conservative base, who are already highly motivated to remove BHO from office, will be even more incensed at liberals. They will gladly cast their 2012 votes against Brown in huge numbers.
  • Writerbuckeye
    Unless there's a dramatic turn of events, I see the same wave that flushes Obama also flushing Brown from office.

    I didn't know this thread still existed :D

    Josh Mandel (even though he looks like he's 15) raked in some serious cash this past spring. People are motivated to show Sherrod Brown the door. He's pretty much the poster child for everything that Tea Party-types rail against.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. — National political parties have a test for potential candidates: Do they have what it takes to raise eye-popping amounts of money?
    Josh Mandel has passed that first test, and moves on with honors. The Ohio treasurer, barely in office seven months, raised $2.34 million in his initial foray into a U.S. Senate race, according to preliminary figures that he'll finalize in a filing with the Federal Election Commission this week.

    It takes more than money to win a Senate seat, and the election isn't until November 2012. But Mandel, a 33-year-old Republican whose youthful appearance is tempered by his two tours of Iraq as a Marine intelligence specialist, will be regarded as a very serious contender if he continues at anywhere near this pace.
    Mandel's haul is expected to be the largest of any Senate challenger in the country, according to his campaign.

    He raised it in just three months, April through June. Mandel's take eclipses the $1.5 million that incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Democrat, raised during the same period. Brown nevertheless has more in the bank -- $3.5 million -- because he raised money before this last quarter.

    Brown has the advantage of incumbency and is a proven fundraiser and tireless campaigner. But he is already on the receiving end of Republican Party and outside group attacks over spending, the debt and the economy, the latter of which creates a challenge for any swing-state Democrat. The Ohio Democratic Party meantime regularly criticizes Mandel for spending so much of his recent time raising money and looking for his next political opportunity when he had barely begun serving in his current job.

    Mandel has received support from significant conservative groups including the Club for Growth, Citizens United and Sen. Jim DeMint's Senate Conservatives Fund. But less than 4 percent of his $2.3 million came from PACs and committees, according to the Mandel campaign. Mandel had 2,940 donors, and nearly 60 percent of all his money came from Ohio, his campaign says.

    About his campaign: Although Mandel has filed the necessary FEC paperwork, has retained fund-raising consultants and invites people to his fund-raising receptions by saying he is a Senate candidate, he has publicly shied from making an actual declaration. Not only ago, he maintained that he still had not decided whether to run for Senate. Such a declaration is expected to come in time. But it's not even necessary now. His money says it already.

    Brown isn't going anywhere but back to Washington. You folks don't have the money or the guts to replace him. All you have is bluster, and that doesn't win elections. Save your BS for a fight you can win.

    Q

    Good call.. Fortunately for the pubs there are about 15 other sets they can take with little effort. ;)

    I believe Gibby made similar predictions about the House not being switched to Republicans before the mid-term elections, too. Just think: if you're wrong...you'll be standing right there with Gibby in the "winner's circle" :laugh:

    I hope he out out.... but his union buddies will be coming out in force to vote on the issues central to them.

    You guys realize he is up 10-15 points in every poll released right?

    As well he should be. The pubs are obviously not even focusing on this race, as their choice of candidate demonstrates. As I already stated, the GOP will spend resources on the 10 races that should be easy wins. I for one am perfectly fine with Sir Sherrod being part of a 44 seat minority in '13 and beyond. ;)

    If I'm wrong I'll take my lumps and sit in the "winner's circle".

    If I'm right does that mean you are a "loser"?;)

    If there is another candidate that doesn't blow I'd like to vote for them. Brown pisses me off by supporting (at least initially) things like COICA, PROTECT IP, etc.

    I qualified my statement more than you did -- but if it makes you feel better to think so -- have at it.

    If the Democrat wins it's the media's fault obviously. All the ills in this country can be attributed to the liberal media elites and their super biased reporting. Conservatives are the pure master race that never makes shit up or skews things to make their argument appear rational. People are conservative because they are rational and intelligent and people are only ever liberal because they're lazy/stupid or brainwashed by the MSM.

    Let the most liberal member of the Senate come from California, Massachusetts, Vermont, or some other backwards state. Not Ohio.

    Huh....Whom is he running against?

    What's the percentage of Ohioans that could even name one of the 4 possible Republican candidates?

    Worthless poll. Worthless data. Worthless point.

    He attended my father's funeral. I wasn't pleased. My sister asked him to leave after the church service.

    He never met my father. He's never met me or my siblings before that day. He tried to take advantage of gaining community publicity by showing up at the services of a well known veteran. He's slime.

    Oh, and he doesn't represent my views on most issue so I won't be voting for him.

    Oh and pants...I watched NBC tonight and they did a fairly prominent story about the MF Global Wall Street scandal that's brewing and mentioned Jon Corzine's role and noted that he was a former senator -- they conveniently ignored that he was a Democrat from New Jersey.

    Turns out, they weren't the only network to conveniently forget his political affiliation. I guess it's just a coincidence that all three didn't bother to note what party he was with -- since we all know Democrats aren't doing the evil on Wall Street; only Republicans. Just like they never mention the politician who has gotten the most Wall Street donations the past several years: one President Obama.

    Will do.

    Also, the former Governor thing. They don't always say the political party. I'd say about half the time I'm watching something they say the party and half the time they don't on just about all the networks.
