Ty WebbHe never said Iran was a threat to us....
Now I can see you can't answer my question....Thank you -
bases_loadedWill you respond to me Ty? Why is so much made of Palin saying she "can see Russia" and this one by Bachman when the Anointed one makes them regularly...take away his teleprompter and he makes W. look like a Rhodes Scholar. And again I ask..Why? WHY are you voting for Barry next term?

bases_loaded"One such translator was an American of Haitian descent, representative of the extraordinary work that our men and women in uniform do all around the world -- Navy Corpse-Man Christian Brossard."
Mispronouncing "Corpsman" (the "ps" is silent) during a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast, Washington, D.C., Feb. 5, 2010 (The Corpsman's name is also Christopher, not Christian)
Such class from the Commander in Chief... -
bases_loaded"No, no. I have been practicing...I bowled a 129. It's like -- it was like Special Olympics, or something."
Making an off-hand joke during an appearance on "The Tonight Show", March 19, 2009 (Obama later called the head of the Special Olympics to apologize)
Oh jeeze...can you imagine if a GOP member made such a gaffe? -
bases_loaded"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong."
Hey Barry...if a plane crashes on the Ohio and Penn border...where do you bury the survivors? -

One soldier dies, one daughter serving her country is killed, one son not returning home at the hands of Iran and their missiles is a threat to America, to the homeland and to the American people and the world...
If one those missles are pointed at our military base is reason to take Iran as a threat.

I love how conservatives and Fox overplays every misstep that Obama makes. It goes both ways and both are stupid.Writerbuckeye;816251 wrote:I love how the media overplays every misstep by any GOP candidate who comes close to Obama in polling -- but always ignore every stupid thing he's said since he began campaigning for the job, as if it never happened.
People in those kinds of situations are going to say things wrong. It's just the way it works. The question is this: does a few misspoken words mean the person saying it isn't smart? If you believe this, then Obama has to qualify as one of the dumbest presidents in history. I don't believe that, but some of you are giving him this huge pass that isn't being given to anyone from the GOP. -

I don't recall any of the nightly news shows making his gaffes a reason to disqualify him from running. Bachman and Palin make headlines for theirs. That's where the problem lies. You bring up Fox news. They are a cable channel. -
I Wear PantsPalin does but I think it's because she has taken the "anyone that criticizes me is a liberal, MSM, socialist, that hates American family values" standpoint.
It's been a while since I've seen anything calling Bachman batshit crazy because she hasn't done anything batshit crazy in a while that I know of. -

I don't think she's ever done anything bat shit crazy. She is currently getting skewered though for a gaffe that may have just been a bad coincidence. BHO thought there was 58 states...had to dig for that though. -
I Wear PantsWhat is the current gaffe?
And yes she has said bat shit crazy things like this on what will happen if her same-sex marriage ban amendment fails to pass in 2004: “It isn’t that some gay will get some rights. It’s that everyone else in our state will lose rights. For instance, parents will lose the right to protect and direct the upbringing of their children. Because our K-12 public school system, of which ninety per cent of all youth are in the public school system, they will be required to learn that homosexuality is normal, equal and perhaps you should try it. And that will occur immediately, that all schools will begin teaching homosexuality.” -- Senator Michele Bachmann, appearing as guest on radio program “rophetic Views Behind The News”, hosted by Jan Markell, KKMS 980-AM, March 6, 2004.
“You have a teacher talking about his gayness. (The elementary school student) goes home then and says “Mom! What’s gayness? We had a teacher talking about this today.” The mother says “Well, that’s when a man likes other men, and they don’t like girls.” The boy’s eight. He’s thinking, “Hmm. I don’t like girls. I like boys. Maybe I’m gay.” And you think, “Oh, that’s, that’s way out there. The kid isn’t gonna think that.” Are you kidding? That happens all the time. You don’t think that this is intentional, the message that’s being given to these kids? That’s child abuse.” — Senator Michele Bachmann, speaking at EdWatch National Education Conference, November 6, 2004.
Yes, if gay marriage is allowed then schools will teach kids how to be gay. -
WriterbuckeyeFalse equivalence yet again, pants.
The type of skewering that goes on against GOP presidential hopefuls and past presidents towers above anything the conservative blogasphere and Fox can muster.
CBS, NBC, ABC, the NY Times, AP and the others reach almost every household in the US via some form (newspaper, tv, radio, computer) while what gets out via conservative outlets may reach 1/10th of that.
In this case, the sheer volume makes a big difference, and helps set the meme that gets picked up by other media, comedians, and others who set social commentary.
We've seen it in the past with every Republican president since Nixon, and it's continuing with anyone who is even remotely considered a serious candidate these days.
Ford was a bumbler...Reagan was senile...GHW Bush was a klutz...W was dumb. Get the idea? Hard to refute a pattern that's so defined and consistent. -
I Wear PantsYeah and you don't see anything about the Democratic presidents right?
Every president is called something stupid from everywhere.
Where we disagree is that you think it's a concerted effort by liberals to skew the media whereas I think it's just that writers, producers, and people in the TV, film, and radio industries happen to be more likely to be liberal leaning than conservative. Much like I'd say that farmers are more likely to be conservative leaning in their political views.
Ford kinda was a bumbler though. The others were definitely inaccurate though. Because even though I think W was a terrible president I don't think he was or is dumb. -

For the mainstream media, those labels of "stupid" for Dem presidents come very, very reluctantly.I Wear Pants;816403 wrote:Every president is called something stupid from everywhere.
When Carter was in office the media attempted to paint Carter as a "President in Crisis" with regard to the Iranian hostage situation. Anyone remember the incessant daily, "America Held Hostage" themes every evening on the nightly news? I cannot recall the media addressing Carter's ineptitude and waffling until the very end when it became apparent the Reagan was going to make him a one-termer.
The media also protected Clinton's sexual indiscretions as long as possible until the New Media (which had just become popular at the time) forced the issue.
Now they attempt to portray their bed buddy Obama as being the "leader in a Great Economic Battle" and have yet to truly address the fact that BHO is in way over his head.
The point? The media clearly treats Democratic presidents differently than Republicans...and it does so deliberately. -

You and Writer always make this point (among others), but you never have any proof that they deliberately do this. I'd ask for such proof, but I fear I would be waiting a long, long time. -

Not sure what your Yahoo feed reads, but most of my day yesterday one of the lead stories was Bachmann's Wayne/Wayne Gacy gaffe. How often have you a piece on Obama's aforementioned MOH screw up? I wouldn't have known about it unless it was mentioned above - that's a pretty big gaffe. Hard to defend it and it is far more worse than mixing up an actor and serial killer. -

Studies by Harvard and UCLA proving it have been posted ad nauseum. Former CBS reporter Bernie Goldberg's book is an eye-opener as well.stlouiedipalma;816650 wrote:You and Writer always make this point (among others), but you never have any proof that they deliberately do this. Pretty easy to see. Manhattan's not looking for it, but he obviously saw it.
There's a book coming out next month by a UCLA professor. In it, he'll detail how he's studied the media for years and found every MSM outlet tilted to the left...some obviously more than others. I'm sure you'll find a reason to discredit his work, as most on the left also will. -

Sorry, I don't do Yahoo. Hey, I'm sure you all suffer from some sort of persecution complex whenever the media is mentioned. Don't worry. Bachmann has a ways to go before she catches the King of Gaffes, Joe Biden. The more popular she becomes, however, I'm sure she will pass him up sometime soon. You just have to give her a little rope.
Speaking of the media, I see where Fox News' Chris Wallace phoned Bachmann personally to apologize for asking her if she was a flake. I wonder how much influence Roger Ailes had in Wallace's decision. So much for Mr. Wallace's independence and objectivity. I guess riding on daddy's coattails doesn't give him the right to ask the tough questions. He obviously forgot to read the memo regarding criticism of Republican candidates. -
WriterbuckeyeNah. It just shows Fox isn't as in the bag for conservatives as the other media are for candidates they like.

Perhaps I'm living too much in the past, but didn't Dan Rather get fired over an attempt to bone over the '04 election re W's Air Force Guard history? Really, a major news network was sitting on a (false) story to submit near the election.
