Because they have been shielded from reality by their union 'leadership' () for so long that it will take a couple years of de-programming before truly understanding how market forces work, and how they work for the better for those who have initiative and smarts, for the betterment of all. -

in theory....in theory communism works.
better performing public workers also should be paid better. yet the hopes of SB5 is that it will lower their pay to help cities with their budget, hmmmm.
didnt know public workers were raising children and shaping behavior, but ok. its up to society as a whole to make a better community, not just public workers. -

You are going against actual facts here. Safe communites with good schools have higher property values than dangerous communities with shitty schools. The hopes of SB5 is that pension funding and such will better align with what the economy can provide at the time.
I don't just have a "thoery" you can check the facts for yourself about crime and schools vs property values -

Better preforming fire fighters, now that's a concept. Lets see, Put out more fires-check, Put out fires faster-check, Work for less money-check, save more lives-check.LJ;760201 wrote:Better performing police, fire and teachers make for a better community, which makes for higher property values, which makes for more revenue, which makes for higher pay. -

Really, you had to look up facts to see that. That's common knowledge. Rich, wealthy communities didn't become that way because of their school system though. The people who live there set the standard. Can you show me where a shiity city was turned around because of a good school system?
So how is a shitty school supposed to get ahead when they are aligned with a shitty economy? -

It all ties in together. As schools and police/fire are improved, it will in turn start to improve the socieconomic status of the residents, which will in turn start to improve the school system and fire/police more, and it just becomes a cycle. -

and that often takes money from outside the city and an increase of police/fire and other city services. NYC did it, but it didnt happen through subtraction. -

This is an excellent point. Many people, especially on this forum seem to think that the free market works perfectly and always how it theoretically should. But it doesn't, a lot. It's still the best model for a lot of things but I think some on here seem to believe it's the answer for everything.Glory Days;760263 wrote:in theory....in theory communism works.

Free market capitalism - despite its obvious flaws - has provided far, far more people with greater economic opportunities, quality of living, and personal growth than socialism/communism ever hopes to achieve.I Wear Pants;766968 wrote:This is an excellent point. While the worldwide Great Socialist Experiment (Europe, Soviet Union, China, etc.) are all adjusting to free market principles to improve their economies, the United States is clamoring for the failed economic ideals of the supposedly utopian socialist mindset.
I don't think capitalism is the answer for everything, but it certainly beats any economic system the world has ever known.
