NBC already in defending Obama mode
-
WriterbuckeyeTonight on the Nightly News, they had a nice in-depth interview segment with Donald Trump in which they systematically skewered him on several fronts; both making him look like a kook (birther) and inept in business, talking about every failure and lawsuit he's had filed against him.
It was a testament to how much the media has Obama's back. Trump isn't a serious candidate for President (I don't think) but since he's garnered some positive poll numbers, the MSM is cranking up its machine to make sure Obama has an easy ride to re-election.
You watch, as any GOP contender rises from the field, we'll see very similar treatment on several fronts.
If only one of these so-called journalism organizations had dared to do the same type of piece on Obama when he first started his run... -

I Wear PantsWhere's your thread for "Fox already in Attack Obama Mode"?
Both modes suck because they push agendas under the guise of pure journalism.
And Trump is a joke. -

If CBS had this kind of crap on "W" you can be certain there would be a leftist media frenzy about it. -
I Wear PantsMuch like there's a rightist frenzy over that?

CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, Post, LA Times, NPR, Reuters, AP > Fox News
Trump being a joke is not the point -- and you know it. -

Trump is running for President....don't act like he isn't
He deserves the same treatment as any other presidential candidate.
He's lucky they didn't bring up his mob connections -

Soo, Obama should have received the same treatment? How come there wasn't any in depth grilling interview when he was running? -

So what you're saying Writer is that all those stations/papers are better and more informative than Fox News? -

Wright,Bittergate,Ayers -
WriterbuckeyeName me one MSM interview Obama ever had while running that comes close to this one in adversarial tone.
I defy you to produce it -- because I know you cannot.
And I agree, he deserves the same treatment AS ANY OTHER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE -- except the one who's now in the White House never faced it, and likely won't again. But those networks that helped elect him will damn sure take apart anyone that sniffs the GOP nomination. -
Ty WebbYou're an idiot if you say he wasn't ever hammered while running....
Wright
Bittergate
Ayers -
WriterbuckeyeIf you think that was "hammered" you're the idiot.
The media attention he got on those came and went in a hearbeat.
Getting hammered is day after day after day of the same hard-hitting stories. He never experienced that. Not ever. And he's the only presidential candidate in my memory (40 years) to get treated like a king waiting for his coronation.
Fact is, the media can take ANYONE who has been a risk taker and successful (like Trump or almost any other candidate you can think of) and focus ONLY on their foibles, failures and frustrations. That's exactly what they did with Trump. It's exactly what they'll do with any other GOP candidate who gets a little momentum.
I firmly believe that's also why Obama went to such great lengths NOT to create a record of himself (or keep it quiet) going all the way back through college. It's why he voted "present" so many times in the Illinois Legislature. He didn't want any record, so when he ran for higher office, there would be nothing there to focus on in a negative way.
Given a friendly media, anyway, it worked like a charm. -

I disagree to a point. Trump himself maybe a joke to you, but its about time a businessman was President. These bullshit lawyers, lifetime politicians, and whatever the hell a community organizer is, are just wastes of time. Only OUR country would think these types of people would make good leaders. Obama may have had the dumbest career prior to being President than most. I'd vote for Trump over Obama in a heartbeat. -
Devils AdvocateTrump and Obama are both brothers from another mother.... They both made a careers from Fed Gov handouts.

How do you figure? Trump made his money from starting out with his rich dad and going from there. Going bankrupt isn't a government handout, it is the whole point of making a corporation so the liability isn't your own. -

ptown_trojans_1I have a serious question, why the hell are we talking about Donald Trump?
I honestly hate the media for continuing to follow him. -

Yeah we need a dude that inherited millions to run the country.iclfan2;746350 wrote:I disagree to a point. Trump himself maybe a joke to you, but its about time a businessman was President. At best Trump would be a lateral move not an upward one.
Anyway. You guys say he was hammered, other people don't. Ty Webb thinks that Wright, Bittergate, Ayers count as hammering Obama. You guys disagree. You guys insist that Sarah Palin was unfairly treated in interviews, other people disagree.
The point is, any politician you support or sympathize with that is in an interview that they come out of looking poorly in you'll claim they were treated unfairly or hammered. -

I don't understand your question. IF our dumbass country elected Obama as president, do you really think Trump couldn't get elected? Someone who actually has expertise in an area, business sense, etc. I love how Trump is such a joke because he is a celebrity. -

The President is about implementing policy and offering guidance to that policy. Sure it is organization and business, but that is more a Chief of Staff. The President himself should be a policy wonk, know the issues and have indepth abilities to offer solutions.
Say what you want about Obama, but he is a policy wonk, he knows issues-like nukes, like Europe, like Pakistan, etc.
Trump in no way shape or form has demonstrated anything close to policy solutions. -

I hope not.
The Presidency is not about business. It is about implementing policy, and being in command of foreign policy.
Business is more Congress since they deal with the money. -
iclfan2I disagree that the PResident is about making policy. The president is here to run the country. I know you are a big foreign policy guy, but at this point our country is the one we need to be worrying about, and Obama has no idea. The best answer I heard Trump say, was that he is militaristic, but his military is gonna be 10k above the earth in airplanes. I wholeheartedly agree, and think we bow down to other countries way too much as it is. If we are the "greatest" country in the World, we need to start acting like it.

I Wear PantsWhat does that mean? Are you suggesting we attack more places?

No I'm suggesting if we do, our citizens aren't on the grounds doing it. Get our people the hell out of harms way.I Wear Pants;746487 wrote:What does that mean? Are you suggesting we attack more places?
