lmao According to the French? I have, in the past, been personally involved in multiple NATO exercises with the French, Germans, Brits, Belgians, etc, etc The pride and self proclamation of the French far exceed their actual abilities.

I apologize for skim reading and in doing so overlooking the 'foreign legion' portion of your post. That said a willingness to attempt odious tasks should not infer successful accomplishment of said tasks. I would question the ability of the French Foreign Legion to even be remotely capable of enforcing much of anything in either Afghanistan or Iraq.
It is fairly obvious no one nation or even multiple nations will ever truly accomplish peace in the middle east. Even stabilization is a stretch IMHO. But for a US based group to imply the young men and women of the US military are drunk with militaristic power and show little or no regard for civilians is utterly and totally absurd. Would it have been admirable to have zero non-combatant casualties absolutely. That simply does not happen in war. Combined that with a culture that willingly uses human shields whether known or not and there will be civilian casualties.
