  Bob is a fireman. Bob is a first responder to 9/11. Bob develops lung and throat cancer and back problems from the 9/11 site. Bob cannot work as a fireman now.

  Bob knew of the dangers the job had when he signed up and took the test. Bob deserves MORE tax payer money for the job he did? Which oh by the way, he gets paid to do in the first place. Bob can not find anothe job to do within the city? Bob can't collect disabilty? Bob can't get any healthcare, period?
  
  My wife has an extremely rare form of cancer...Leiomyosarcoma. Chemo and radiation do not work on it. She'll eventually be unable to perform her duties as an accountant. My wife, as well as all those stricken with LMS should receive compensation, because our families are going to suffer with the loss of their incomes and the treatments she can't get to help her.

  Bob also expected compensation if something ever happend to him. What other job is going to hire bob when he is a health risk? How can bob get disability when 9,999 Bobs are also draining the fund at the exact same time? Maybe bob should have just told the families of the victims to go find their loved ones remains themselves?

  Now see, that's exactly ONE of my points and questions. Do we/us/whoever really believe that there was 10,000 first responders and that every one of them is sick from 911?

  I don't know if that is right or if it's wrong. I just know that something doesn't seem "right" and that I see various red flags with the whole thing.
  
  I also realize that there's alot of people who DO think the best thing to do is throw money at it and feel good about it. We have certainly read that in this thread.

  You are perfectly allowed to get upset if and when I make assumptions of what you think and those assumptions are incorrect. And you're entitled/encouraged to either mock me or call me names.

  10,000 doesn't seem high to me considering the insane amount of hours people spent working at ground zero for weeks, months and years.

  I know it's just a language thingy, but "a year after" is hardly a first responder, is it?
  
  The claim is that the soot, fumes, vapors, etc. that were pronounced right after the devastation were the causes responsible for the 1st responders illnesses.

  Now this was just the first link because I know someone will say it is from MSNBC but the report doesnt lie. The EPA has admitted over the last 9 years that there were mistakes in the initial assessment of the air quality at ground zero.
  
  Look I am sickened by the overall spening attitude of this administration but this is one thing I will not mind giving some of my money for.
  
  Police, Firefighters, Paramedics, Military all know what they sign up for but I will gladly do what I can to support these people who do jobs that most of us do not want or cant do. To know that people are willing to risk their lives in order to protect me and my family is worth a few extra dollars out of my paycheck each week.
