Civilian Jury vs. Terrorist

224 dead 12 American = terrorist = 20 years to life and this is what a Civilian jury comes up with.
280 charges in connection with the 1998 bombings of the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, one murder count for each of the 224 people killed.
Civilian jury fines him guilty for only one charge, conspiracy to destroy government buildings. Tell that t the 12 dead American and the other 224 families ..... WTF

This bastard should have his balls fed to him, right after six weeks without food… as his last meal before dropping him into the ocean as shark bait.

Obama and his Administration is a joke and the decision to hearing Terrorist in a Civilian Court is an unbelievable act if incompetency and judicial ignorant.

Terrorists is a military matter and should be held in a military court trial……..

I didnt read too much into in when i saw this on another site on my phone. but interesting how if it was in a military trial, some evidence would have been allowed that wasnt allowed in the civilian trial.

If Obama needed any more proof that civilian courts are not the place for these trials -- he got it.

Definitely makes trying KSM in civilian court nearly impossible.

Although, from my discussions with some folks, there may not have been much of a difference in a military trial anyways.
The guy is getting 20 to life, probably life in a FED max facility. So, it is not like he is being set free.
Still a blow for the argument of civilian trials.

The problem with military trials is they are unproven and have not been really explored yet, so it would be whole new territory for the DoD.

My colleague has a twice weekly column in Foreign Policy called the LWOT (Legal War on Terror) that is pretty good.

And they had no business doing so. The accused in this case has as many Consititutional rights as the rock in my backyard, and he should've been tried by a military tribunal.

The fact that Eric Holder continues to draw a paycheck is one of the single most telling signs that this administration just doesn't get it.

I used to think that, now I'm leaning toward the "he's merely doing Obama's bidding" idea. There are ways to deal with an incompetent Attorney General- a good talking to ("No, we're going to do it this way"), or you fire the guy.

I am truly glad that all you legal analists were there at the trial an heard the evidence. It is much easier gleening the facts from this thread and forming an educated opinion.

Why is it such a bad Idea to project the image of the United States to all that would look. To me it makes the statement that "We are that much better than the rest of you". It should not matter if you are a Citizen or a "armed combatant". You will have the right to a fair trial based on facts of evidence and have rules of procedure that well in fact convict you if you are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Sure it makes prosecuting this scum more difficult, But the fact remains that the Constitution is in place to protect the innocent and to provide that we can live our lives with out unreasonable government interference. ( the last statement should have it's own topic.). It should be difficult to take away someones freedom. and it should not matter where the hell they are from. If you are in the U.S. you operate by U.S. rules.

It amazes me that you people feel that someones life is worth less if they are Muslim or af another religion or nationality.

Here's the deal. Part of "protecting the innocent" means also punishing the guilty. There's two sides to the law, and this guy does not have Constitutional rights- he does not have the right to remain silent (we want as much info from him as possible to "protect the innocent"), he does not have the right to legal counsel (where every single minor technicality can hang a jury).

Terrorists love civilian trials where they can spew their crap in our courtrooms under the pretense of "fairness" and "freedom", and they can mock us while unmistakably saying they are at war with the United States.
