The case for Obama

    Interesting article on Obama and why he has lost support by both liberals and independents. While I do not agree with a lot of the author's conclusions, it is amazing what he has been able to push through. While the majority of poster's on here are 100% against everything he has done, I think history will be pretty kind to him. The fact that he has pissed off both sides makes me think that some of his policies will turn out better then you might of thought in the long run. As for being a one term president, I do not think he really cares about that. This is a refreshing change in it's self.

    Only the Rolling Stone could craft an article trying to brainwash people that this guy is not a statist and is more conservative than we really know. Check that....we'll be seeing more articles like this over the next 24 months in an attempt to make us believe that the way he has campaigned and legislated over the last 20 months isn't the real him.

    I'll join fish82....I was happy when he vetoed the ease-of-foreclosing bill a couple weeks ago. I also thought it was a good idea to keep Gates and Jim Jones when he transitioned from GWB. So it's not 100%....maybe around 98.5% :D

    Yeah, that arms treaty, START, is getting bogged down in insane, stupid and pointless partisan bickering in the Senate thanks to Demint, Kyl and others. Ugh. Also, that arms treaty has insane bipartisan support.

    But, I have the view that if both sides (left and right) hate what you are doing, you are doing the right thing. So, my overview of the administration has been tough, but I'm not as bad as others on the left and the right.

    Given everything the President has had to deal with and the nature of the beast that is DC, I'm a little frustrated with the White House, but overall, still supportive.

    I see your point, although the idea of the left "hating" him is a bit of a reach. The wacknut fringe left might...but the mainstream left is feeling the same as you...mildly disillusioned at worst.

    The sad part is that 75% of his problems wouldn't have even happened had he just walked in on Day One, banged Nancy & Harry's heads together a few times, done his best Alex Haig impression and said "Okay kids..I'm in charge here." He let those two retards drive the aganda from the start, and it bit him in the ass.

    He has done some things that I really appreciate, like avoiding the rampant protectionism/trade barrier approach pushed by many of his supporters. Many on the right are far too hard on him. I don't think McCain would've had things turned around by now, either.

    Harry and Nancy drive the agenda? Hardly. These twits couldn't drive a go-cart let alone the national political agenda. The problem with Obama is that his hyper-inflated ego and arrogance are getting in the way of his inexperience. A recipe for disaster from day one.

    I agree with most of this, but the moderate, mainly private sector small business left - folks that have been DEMs their whole lives but are feeling the pain over the last 2-3 years are apoplectic. This administration has been so clueless and aloof to growing businesses and employment that the entire small business community in our area is up in arms. There is no way that 100% of these people are GOP'ers, and many of them have likely been DEM donors in the past. Every single chamber, venture capital, venture forum, real estate collective, any other business forum, etc. There is so much disgust with what is going on...and again, there is no way these are all GOP'ers.

    I wonder how many Americans, living in the U.S. are employed by foreign companies. I know my wife is one of them. I'm guessing there are people reading these threads that know someone working in Honda's Marysville plant, or Toyota's Georgetown plant.

    Agreed. Harry and Nancy provide Obama the buffer he needs to put his plans in motion. If Harry and Nancy fail, Obama can merely say he was not involved/disagreed with their decisions and let them take the fall.

    I agree. An earlier poster commented Nancy and Harry were out there driving the bus while Obama was the voice of reason. I contend they are doing exactly what he wants them to do. If they fail, he can put all the blame on them.
