Fish, this has got to stop. That's twice in one week I agree with you.
I believe that the Democrats will view the election (and loss of power) as a sign that some serious house-cleaning is in order. At least they'd better see it that way if they want to be taken seriously in the future. Pelosi will get dumped by those in the party who can understand the voters' message at the polls. -

Obama is going to be put out on an island all by himself and be attacked at all angles by his own party in 2012 because he will be so toxic and have no chance of winning.
This is interesting. I'd like you to explain this to me a little more.
How would the Clinton's be coming for the White House? -
stlouiedipalmaProbably by determining that Obama is weak politically and then Hillary could mount a challenge in the primaries. Mounting a serious challenge to an incumbent President of your own party hass happened before ('68 and '80) but it's risky.
-
Con_AlmaMs. Clinton would surely have to resign first. I don't see that happening.
I guess nothing should surprise me anymore, however. -
stlouiedipalmaYeah, that would probably have to happen. In 1968 both Eugene McCarthy and Robert Kennedy challenged LBJ, but both were Senators at the time. In 1976 Ronald Reagan put up opposition to President Ford but he was the Governor of California. In 1980 Edward Kennedy challenged President Carter but, again, he was a Senator. I don't recall a member of an incumbent President's Cabinet ever directly challenging him in the primaries. It would certainly be awkward and full of nasty stuff during the campaigning.

Both sides will need to make some wholesale changes post-election. The Pubs will need to follow through with very difficult and potentially career-threatening spending cuts if things are going to change. Obama will need to open his eyes to the meaning of this election, and change tack accordingly, ala Clinton. If he does, I think he stands a very good shot at a second term. -

Pretty accurate. But what I fear is that if the Republicans gain power that they'll do the same thing the Democrats have done, completely ignore the other side just because they can.fish82;524108 wrote:The Apocalypse must be nigh, Lou.

That said. I am giving the Republicans one last chance with the power to bring limited and efficient government at the federal level. I am highly skeptical but see them as the most reasonable alternative at this point in changing our government. I stopped giving my hard earned dollars to them years ago. I tell them where to go and what to do when they call and solicit me for cash.
I understand they will have Obama to deal with and likely a democrat senate. But I will be watching them closely. If in the next five years or so my ass is still sore, that is it. I will seek other means of making change in the government. -

Angle up to 50% in latest Rasumussen poll. -

NV has that odd "none of the above" choice. I have a feeling people who don't like Reid but can't vote for Angle are going to choose that, and Reid will eke out a win with probably less than 50% of the votes. -

True....and then the douche will claim that his narrow victory is "proof" that the American people want more of the same bullshit to conrtinue on Capitol Hill.gut;525766 wrote:NV has that odd "none of the above" choice. Angle or not I hope he loses and then the Dems will have to select a new leader of their much slimmer senate "majority." -
QuakerOatsAnd that would be Chucky Schumer ---- one of the most repugnant senators of all time. We will have a blast teeing off on him.

Maybe they'll stop listening to the other side and actually listen to the people. Unlikely, but one can hope. -

Whom is more delusional....Harry or those that will pull the lever for him?
BTW - he still hasn't answered where he made all of his money to be able to afford his luxuries, his status as a land baron, and all his trappings. For what it's worth, it's a fair question for all of the elites in Washington, no matter what party. -
