Get Ready, Here Comes "Cash For Appliances"

  I thought the cash for clunkers was a bad idea, this is even worse. At least with the cars, they may have had some impact on "climate change" with getting some of the really old clunkers of the streets, but what's the excuse for having "cash for appliances"? The politicians in DC need to seriously get a dose of reality. I don't know who told them this would be a good idea, but it's not. There are a lot better ways to stimulate the economy.

  What's the chances that our government will EVER have this kind of common sense? Don't hand out this money that doesn't need to be given out! NO PRINTING money!!!!!

  More government in one's life. Can we see that "freedom" is coming under attack with the growth of government?
  WAKE UP AMERICA! Think about what you are getting...more government control of our lives and less freedom.

  One of the biggest problems is that people ARE waking up to this. However, then you have these people who have grown complacent as the governmental Pavlov Dogs and think that the ones protesting are crazy, they make too much of a fuss, liars, bigots, etc.
  It is as plain as day what is going on here.
  
  I really think that alot of people are having issues with their comfort zone being disrupted. Because in their minds, whatever the government does should be out of sight and out of mind. They believe that because they still get up everyday, have a house, car, bank acct. debt, etc. - that the people who are complaining are exaggerating.
  
  Just look at some of the responses in these threads!

  Not sure if there is a "national tax" on appliances. I tend to believe that there is no such thing.
  
  CATS: Way to many people (IMHO) do not think, let alone think for them self. Look at all the "talking points" on TV and various forums. "Thinking is the hardest work int the world. That is why so few people engage in it."
  People who buy a car do not know all the various government regulations that are placed on that vehicle. Other countless examples are placed on many things. Will not argue the merit of such regulations here. Just making a point. We are affected by so many things that we don't see. But under the surface, we find the government.
  If the government is doing it in one place, maybe they will do it in others. One wonders what the various "NO-bama Kare" bills now up for Congressional debate will impact our lives. Less money due to higher taxes or higher insurance rates? Less freedom with my money. Limits what I can buy. Possible less choices on medical services caused by government regulations.

  This administration sucks. They just continue to spend money on stupid things. Cash for clunkers was dumb, and yet they are doing it again now with appliances? They need stopped.

  Is it 2012 yet? We can't get this clown out of the Whitehouse fast enough. Hopefully the world doesn't end in 2012, our new president won't be inaugurated yet.

  Exactly. I can't believe Obama and his minions would be this dumb, but it's possible. More likely, they are taking one step at a time to try to tell us what cars we can drive, what appliances we can use, what temperture our homes can be, etc.
  
  If the people who should know better and were fooled into voting for Obama turn around and vote for him again, then this country might have taken a huge turn toward totalitarianism that will take a long time to fix.

  Do you believe that "cash for appliances" makes good sense in any way? If so, what good do you think will come out of it?
  
  Stores give rebates of their own on appliances all the time, the government needs to stay out of it.
  The washer/dryer combo I'm looking at right now is $2,000 on sale.
