Bishop confirms banning Kennedy from receiving Communion

TinkertrainThe pile of dead bodies from the crusade's is kind of hard to see through too. Wanna add in the pile's of body's of people burned at the stake because they didn't agree with the catholic church?
The only thing more ludacris than the comparison isidore made is the idea that pope's are infalliable. -

Charges unlikely against priest who admitted assault on Mooney student in 1970s

Now, you present an article whereby the statue of limitations has run out on a priest molester.
How is the law on s of l's a Catholic Church problem?
Like Hits stated, once the professional psychology organizations deemed that pedophiles could not be "rehabbed". the Church quit hushing up the crimes of these people. Previously, they took the word of these people that the offenders could be "cured".
Both the shrinks and the Church were wrong in their thinking...and the Catholic church has rightfully apologized and are paying the price.
If you want to continue your assailt on your former religion, that's your right to do so.
But if you're going to cite recent (last 10 years or so) events of Catholic Church coverups, then find them and link them. -
unique_67[/u]Hits,
Just so you know, Bishop Tobin is taking heat from victims of sex-abuse by Priests for his failure to warn the public about former Priests found guilty of child molestation from the Diocese who have been working with or near children.
In January 2007, Tobin's lawyers admitted in court that 125 Rhode Island priests have been accused of molesting kids, but only 29 of them have been publicly identified. This is quite appalling, as it means 96 priests that have been accused of molesting children have not had their names released to the public by the Providence Diocese. So, the cover ups that have plagued the Catholic Church are still continuing to this very day, and Bishop Tobin is one of the individuals responsible for this type of thing taking place.

..."We’re especially disappointed in Bishop Tobin and Cardinal O’Malley, both of whom publicly posture on many issues, yet refuse to do the bare minimum to stop future abuse by current and former church employees who are known to have sexually assaulted innocent children.
For at least 34 years, Catholic officials have known Fr. Roland M. Lepire was a credibly accused child molester. For 13 years, they’ve known he is an admitted child molester. But other than suspending him from his job (which church insurers and defense lawyers no doubt insisted on), they’ve done virtually nothing to safeguard those around Lepire. That’s inexcusable, but sadly typical for America’s bishops."... -
HitsRusUnique....Link some mainstream media not 'snap' .
If you read your 'Vindy ' Link you will find that the priest in question was immediatedly removed from contact, that the diocese turned it over quickly to the Trumbull county police for further investigation, and that under no circumstances will the priest in question return to public contact. The main focus of the article is that the priest may not be able to prosecuted by SECULAR law because of the statute of limitations.
The Catholic Church today takes accusations seriously, handles them in a timely manner, removes priests from public contact that are accused pending investigatioin, and defrocks them if they are found to be guilty.
tinkertrain...you choose to highlight things of hundreds of years past, dwell on mistakes of recent policy without forgiveness, and spew lies and half truths about the church without remorse, all the while ignoring the infinite amount of good that the Church does in the world. Your inability to see thru your hatred damages any credibilty in what you post. I will no longer dignify what you post by responding any further.
Whether Kennedy gets communion or not is a religious...and specifically, a Catholic issue. If you are not Cathoilic, that issue should not concern you. -
TinkertrainYour telling me I should forgive an organization that essentially condoned the molesting of hundred's if not thousand's of children over the year's? Hell they didn't just condone it they downright enabled it. As a victim of child sexual abuse myself (not from a preist) I absolutely refuse to do that. I will never ever forgive the catholic church for what they did and will take every opportunity presented to remind catholic's of the shame they all bare for the sin's of their church.
-
CenterBHSFanBut, why should anybody have to bear the shame of what another person/group did? Hell, if it is all about that, everybody should bow their heads in shame and never leave the house, because there is no "group" out there untainted. Well, unless there are only children out there...
At any rate, I just don't see the logic in that. -
TinkertrainIf one allows the catholic church to brush this under the rug of people's memories it will happen again and more innocent children will become victim's. As far as I'm concerned what the catholic church did should become mandatory in american history book's so that it cannot be forgotten and allowed to happen again.

I think the initial mistakes in mis-management by representatives of the Church are well documented and won't be forgotten.
Tinkertrain writes;
"I will never ever forgive the catholic church for what they did and will take every opportunity presented to remind catholic's of the shame they all bare for the sin's of their church. "
As the church did nothing to you, forgiveness is not yours to grant.
However, as you feel compelled to cast aspersions on an entire religion and make generalizations by the actions of an unholy few, I will grant you forgiveness in deference to your obvious pain. I hope you find peace someday. -

Plenty of Rabbi molesters too tinkertrain. Does the Jewish faith condone pedophilia? Plenty of lawyer molester too tinkertrain. Does the American Bar Associaytion condone pedophilia? Plenty of MD's that....Tinkertrain wrote: Your telling me I should forgive an organization that essentially condoned the molesting of hundred's if not thousand's of children over the year's? I think you get the point.
