  Intersting to me that "Senator" Obama chose not to vote when the Senate voted by a margin of 72 to 25 to condemn the "General Betrayus" Moveon.org ad, and just a few years later "President" Obama is praying the Patraeus can pull his ass out of the fire and save this war.
  
  Shocking how you can go from thinking so little of a general as to not even vote on the resolution to condemn those who were smearing him to suddenly seeing him as a knight in shining armor when your presidency is in peril.

  Liberal blogs right now are thrilled and cheering that a former community agitator with zero military experience was able to shit can a 4 star general and put the military in their place today, as if the firing will make the military all the sudden start geuninely respecting him and the liberals he has surrounded himself with.

  Did Obama really have a choice to do anything but ask for his resignation?
  
  Not really defending the president or anything, it's just that, no matter how i've looked at this since i heard about it, i couldn't come up with a real reason as to why Obama could keep him on.
  
  Regardless of anything else, it was unacceptable behavior on the part of the general, and that behavior warranted dismissal, plain and simple.
  
  I think the fact that people try to paint this as "Obama showed him and this is why he is great" or "Obama just shelved a great American soldier he sucks" is idiotic.
  
  Seems like a cut-and-dry case, and the left and right blogosphere should shut up about this showing that "Obama is this or Obama is that."
  
  A soldier criticized his commander-in-chief in public, for the entire world to see.
  
  He gets dismissed.
  
  Simple as that.
  
  Sadly, politics in our country doesn't allow it to just be "left" at that.

  I kind of wondered why he wasn't "reassigned" within the military for that very reason. This guy having the ability to goto Fox News (Rupert Murdoch is probably already on the phone with him) and lay into Obama on a regular basis as a national security expert for being weak could be a massive political liability for the former community organizer.

  The conference today left 2 huge questions for me.
  1. Who is not the CENTCOM Commander? Is it still Petreaus and if so damn that is a lot of his plate. Considering CENTCOM covers Egypt to Pakistan, Turkey to Somalia, this somewhat important. I was disappointed that the President did not even mention it.
  
  2. The civilian side of Afghanistan, Holbrooke and Ikenberry is a mess. It really needs to change and fast. There was no mention of that either and I hope the security meeting and additional meetings focus on the civilian side of the relationship.

  Patraeus is no longer going to be Centcom commander.
  
  Don't look for big changes on the civilian side even though they are needed. Obama will not willingly admit those guys were all mistakes, easier to blame McChrystal for not getting along better with them.

  Who replaces him at CENTCOM? It is a pretty big deal. I expect some sort of announcement soon.
  I wouldn't be surprised if he let some civilian side guys go. But, I'm not sure.

  Don't think for one second that didn't enter into the equation for Obama. Sticking Hillary in the State Department, having Patraeus command an unwinable war to knock his star down, BHO has a history of trying to clear the field of anyone who could be a political threat to him.
