Health overhaul law potentially costs $115B more

Surprise surprise. I don't think anyone who isn't shoved so far up Obama's backside didn't see this coming. Even though the article points out these extra expenditures are not mandatory, what's the chance Congress doesn't approve them after passing their baby the health care bill after so long?

I also find this last point pretty funny. When has Obama ever used his veto pen, especially on social programs. It's not going to happen.
But Baer said Obama would demand that added spending be offset with cuts in other domestic programs. "The president made clear he will enforce that with his veto pen," said Baer.

Got to love how Congress just rammed this thing through without going over the entire costs and numbers.
Congressional estimators also said they simply had not had enough time to run the numbers. Costs could go higher, because the legislation authorizes several programs without setting specific funding levels.
Isn't that like Congress writing themselves a blank check? Passing a bill that doesn't set any spending limits when our deficits are double digits.

They scammed the system from the get-go. Crap and uncompleted data in -- crap and incomplete data out.

Anyone with any common sense knew (and most of us said it) that there was no way this piece of trash will end up lowering anything. It's an entitlement program, for God's sake. They ONLY go up.

    Color me SHOCKED!

We all deserve this for electing Barack Hussein Obama to the POTUS.

    1. I was against the final product, cause it was just poorly thought out.
    2. CBO numbers will change as the system changes. The numbers may go up or down, more likely up.
    3. The more you think about implementation, the more you think it is just going to be one big FUBAR.
    4. Something needed to be done, but not this.

    To your points above:

    1. Ya think?
    2. Give me ONE example of a government program where the CBO's numbers actually were lower than the original guesstimate.
    3. Whenever the government gets involved in "improving" our lives and saving us from ourselves it's a guaranteed FUBAR.
    4. Ya think? :P

Yeah, I'm not suprised by this. Everybody, and I mean everybody knew this, or at least had some suspicious - if they were for the bill.
I will not believe for a minute that this caught ANYBODY off guard, as that's laughable.

What literally could be hand-written on one piece of paper ballooned out to a 2,000 page Nimrod Achievement Awards Show.

And so people got what they were asking for... a piece of legislation that is "FUBAR".

    Good job!!!

    I love you.

I voted for the Kenyan. Was hoping he would help us win more distance events on the international level. Didn't know he smoked, though.

The people who believed this would be deficit neutral are the same ones who believed Donald Rumsfeld and the Bush Administration's initial claim the Iraq War would cost $50-60 Billion dollars, and then $6 billion a year for peace keeping. Needless to say, 7 years and about a trillion dollars later the cost estimate was just a little off.

When a political party is determined to do something they will fudge any and all numbers necessary to reach the objective. The American people for the most part don't ask too many questions, so if you just paint a rosey scenario for them it will suffice to get whatever you wanted implemented. Doesn't matter if it blows up, because damage is done and

Anyone surprised by this lives under a rock. Be it tax cuts, wars, entitlement programs, there is not one politician in Washington with clean hands when it comes to knowingly putting out bogus cost estimates to the American public to enact their favored legislation. These guys all know these things are ticking time bombs, but as long as the people funding their campaigns are happy with it they could give 2 shits about how detrimental it is to the good of the American people.

Absolutely. I will be surprised the next time something costs what they project. Not before then.

No way, the health care entitlement program will cost more than they told us?

    I'm shocked, call me a monkey's uncle.

Everything you mentioned was absolutely correct, I just pulled this part out though. The difference with this bill/program/entitlement (whatever you want to call it), is that people DID actually ask questions, they DID realize it was a mess and didn't want it...and the assholes up in DC voted it in anyhow.

Now you just wait a cotton pickin' minute! BHO-Reid-Pelosi and their buddies in the media told us it was crucial that this became law quickly because it would actually reduce the deficit. Are you saying we were lied to?

    Out of control.

It's supposed to be our jobs to not let this happen. Unfortunately, they've found ways to strip away our rights for decades and it may be past the point of no return now.
