Riiight."Before we all started having health care, in the olden days our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor. They would say 'I'll paint your house.' They would do, I mean that's the old days of what people would do to get healthcare with their doctors. Doctors are very sympathetic people," Lowden said in a campaign appearance Monday.
Then the doctor can pay his rent and light bill in eggs that the chickens that you gave him for that hernia operation. Hecan also do landscaping work for the bank to pay off his student loans. -
believerTrue...We'll just not raise taxes on the middle class but fine them $1,600 if they refuse to opt-in to ObamaKare. That's far better than paying for it in eggs and chickens.

girevikYou have some serious issues with the truth.

Excerpt:
You must have called yourself "believer" because you're a believer in anything anyone you agree with says.It appears as if there is no enforcement mechanism for the Individual Mandate. Combined with forcing companies to cover 'preexisting conditions' (which make no sense and is not insurance) there could be a serious problem for health insurance companies. People do not have to sign up for insurance, but can force the companies to pay their medical bills by signing up after the diagnosis of something serious.
Keep going, champ, NEVER let the facts get in the way of an AM radio talking point. -
girevikHere is flaming liberal, radical, socialist, communist Tom Coburn (R- Deep Blue State Of Oklahoma) debunking Faux News lies about the "individual mandate." Enjoy!
http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/04/oreilly-v-coburn-the-evidence-fox-news-does-claim-youll-go-to-jail-video.php
Excerpt:
After Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) told a town hall audience that they shouldn't believe everything they hear on Fox News, Bill O'Reilly had Coburn on his show to reprimand him for wrongly using Fox as a "whipping boy."
Coburn had said, specifically, that Fox tells viewers they may go to jail if they don't buy health insurance. O'Reilly claimed that "Nobody has ever said it." So Coburn backed off: "Maybe it wasn't fair," he said.
The thing is, Fox News hosts, anchors and guests have made the claims over and over.
Props to TPM's former video editor Ben Craw for putting together this reel over at Huffington Post: -

girevikRiiight.
So can you provide a link to the claim that you made about the "individual mandate" or is spreading lies a hobby of yours? -
I Wear PantsWait, what?

a link about the "individual mandate" in what sense? If it exists or not or if the IRS can actually enforce it or not?girevik wrote: Riiight.

here is a link (from a reputable news source, not a blog) that answers both questions.

girevikIf it can be enforced by a, what was it? A "$1,600" fine and/or jail time for not paying said non-existant "$1600" fine.
It's a cool lie though, "knowing" the exact amount a a non-existant fine makes believable. -
goosebumpsWhether the government can enforce the "individual mandate" is not important. This bill allows people to not buy any form of insurance until they actually need it. This will ruin private health insurance. Which I believe is the point, but thats another argument for another day.
This allows me to not buy insurance for years, then one day when I think I have cancer, go buy insurance and now they have to pay for it. This is no different than me saying to my bank that I don't plan on putting any money into my account for the next 5 years, but I'll stop by and take out some money when I need it. -

$1600 is correct. $695 in 2014 and $1000 in 2016. No one knows if is actually enforceable or not, that remains to be seen.girevik wrote: If it can be enforced by a, what was it? A "$1,600" fine and/or jail time for not paying said non-existant "$1600" fine.

girevikThat was a well thought out post with valid arguments and solid opinions. I am shocked to be reading it here of all places.
That said, the guy said you WILL be fined exactly $1600 for not buying health insurance and he is a hot mouthed liar for doing so. I am going to have to disagree with one part of your post, enforcement of the "individual mandate" IS important or the riiight wouldn't feel the need to spread lies about it. -
I Wear PantsQuestion, shouldn't there be a fine though? Because if insurance companies can't deny for preexisting conditions and there is no penalty for not having insurance wouldn't you be stupid to carry insurance until you need it?
Also, did LJ piss in the OP's cereal or something? -
LJ
huh? #1, you don't need to be calling someone a liar when what they said was true. The total fine would be $1600 by 2016. The law clearly states that you would.girevik wrote: That was a well thought out post with valid arguments and solid opinions. I am shocked to be reading it here of all places.

#2 Who claimed anything about importance? -
girevik
You guys need to get together and decide if you're pissed off about the fine or not. One guy thinks it's terrible that you (don't) have to pay it, you think there should be one because of x,y,or z.I Wear Pants wrote: Question, shouldn't there be a fine though?
Find a leg to stand on, you need at least 1. -

I'll get back with you about #1, get some errands to run, but I guess when "goosebumps" said:
He didn't really say anything about "importance." You guys are going to have to let me know where Ican get myself one of those political hack to normal person translators. I looked for oneat the book store but they don't sell them anywhere I shop. Is it an I-phone app that Ican download?Whether the government can enforce the "individual mandate" is not important. -

No, differing opinions are what's needed for discussion.girevik wrote:
