  Part of our agenda is to educate people to the truth. Saying that upwards of 600 out of every 1000 gay men are pedophiles is certainly not the truth.

  Maybe I need to explain what group I'm in. I sing with Seattle Men's Chorus. We are 350 singing members, making us the largest male chorus in the world. That along with the Seattle Women's Chorus (250 singing members) and our non-singing associates, we are the largest gay organization in this part of the country. But we educate and enlighten through music. As a group, we do not picket or protest. If we became too political, we would lose our non-profit status. Nevertheless, we do get our message across. We have done AIDS benefits, breast cancer awareness concerts, and concerts to raise money for choral music in the Seattle Public Schools. In 2001 it was our sad duty to sing at a number of 9/11 memorials. At Christmas our men's concerts draw about 20,000 people, around three-fourths of whom are straight. The mayor of Seattle joined us on stage at one of our concerts this past December.
  
  We are very much in the center of what goes on in the Seattle gay community. If a large percentage of our people were pedophiles, we would know about it and, quite frankly, we would do something about it. It was largely our organization that was responsible for closing down the gay baths in Seattle during the height of the AIDS epidemic. The SMC/SWC played a major role in getting the gay rights bill passed by Washington voters this past November (without losing our non-profit status). We do know what's going on, and I can assure you that the vast majority of us are not pedophiles.

  ^^^^that can be said about the 'vast majority' of Catholic priests.. The fact is abuse is present in any group where authority figures have power over people, especially minors. That some sort of coverup by the Catholic Church 20 years ago seems to be the case, It appears today that the Church today is serious and determined to weed out sex offenders.

  Not that church should be a rock concert, but contemporary music isn't something that should be "banned" from church.

  Your organization is a great one doing great things. Because of this I would think that its "demographic" are some great people who happen to be homosexual. Nice, caring, etc individuals.
  
  I would think, that even a similar group of exceptional people who are nice, caring, etc and happen to be heterosexual would have a much lower percentage of pedophiles than the typical heterosexual population if you follow what I'm alluding to.
  
  Your group is a great one, but doesn't necessarily represent a great cross section of the homosexual community just like similar group of heterosexuals doing exceptionally great things for the community wouldn't represent a good cross section of heterosexuals.
