Talk about sweet. This is great news.
I went to the Buckeyes' practice last Thursday and I must say I was overly impressed. 30 kids STILL in the room with only 8 of them knowing for certain that they'd be on the mat this weekend. We head into the week prior to sectionals and it's a ghost town. (Not totally true, but in order to inflate my admiration for the Buckeyes, I thought I'd embelish a bit. Embelish or imbelish??? I like it with an 'e'.)
I also heard them shouting instructions, pushing kids, asking questions, teaching technique - all as if it were the first week of the season. And, and this is the area that I think shows that Tom Ryan & Co. might just have a clue - EVERY KID WAS RESPONDING AS IF IT WAS THE FIRST WEEK OF PRACTICE! As if, even the non-NQs had a shot at wrestling in the next event.
All that to say, I remember reading that the Buckeyes got 8 in and that 157 and 285 were the two that didn't make it. Well low and behold, CoMo and Nemec (and Jameson... Love ya, D.G.) we're giving it everything they had. At one point Coach Ryan expressed to CoMo that he had to be ready and that anything was possible.
How about that... Way to go, CoMo! Make the most of it.
