OK...what do you think for next year? Projected weights? Incoming Freshmen? -
cruiser_96I think it's March and my tongue is still freezer-burnt from Dip'N'Dots at the Schott!!!
You have to like Olentangy. They look stacked from top to bottom. Licking Valley and Licking Heights look good. I'm always impressed with Big Walnut. I'm excited to see how Bradley does. They look like they have some good talent returning. I won't count out Hartley either.
There are 6 teams that should have no problem being in the area top 10 next year. -

ksig489Here would be my Top 10 (11) going into next year (not knowing about any Freshmen):
1. Olentangy - Still loaded with young State experience
2. Licking Valley - May be their best year, mostly all JRs and SRs
3. Hilliard Bradley - Still building their program, off to a good start
4. Licking Heights - Only graduate Wolfe, several young studs
5. Hartley - Becoming regulars at the State meet, not sure of depth next year
6. Canal Winchester - Really dont know where to put them, ALWAYS tough, could easily be 3
7. Big Walnut - Several studs, may lack depth
8. Jonathan Alder - Graduation hurt overall scoring potential, still have studs
9. DeSales - Young and talented in some areas, graduated several
T10. Whitehall - Young but scrappy and could surprise some of the top 7
T10. London - Mot sure what is left after a ton of graduation, still a couple studs
#s 3-7 could be in just about any order...same with 8-11. -
Dad4SportsJust a question.....
Is it a sure thing that Hilliard Bradley will be in D2 again? I know the state will not look at enrollments for another year, but I was told that new schools are "judged" on an annual basis until they their enrollment stabilizes. Enrollment-wise, I assume the Jaguars will be D1.....??
I can't remember exactly, but a few years ago, didn't one of the new Dublin schools go from D3, D2, D1 in the space of consecutive years (football).
Maybe someone (an AD possibly) could enlighten us on the OHSAA rules in a situation like this?
FYI -- CW Tullius will only be a Junior next year..... -
ksig489Not sure on Hilliard Bradley's status. I would imagine Olentangy would be checked again as well if that was the case. They seem to feel like Olentangy will be back to d1 at the next check. If those two teams were gone, this would be pretty wide open (Valley still the favorite in my opinion).
and I fixed Tullius' grade -
Dad4SportsI don't think Olentangy is in question....they are an exisiting school and will be D2 again next season...after that, who knows. Hilliard Bradley is in a different situation as a brand new school....
-
huntergreenI think Olentangy will stay D2 for a little bit. I have heard they took a pretty big hit when Orange opened up. I may be wrong though. Bradley will move up as soon as the states checks it.
-
cruiser_96I'd love to continue to see a good number of the above-mentioned wrestlers at our open mats. We had quite a few from this list at last summer's sessions. I'd really like to keep it going.
Hope to see everybody there. -

That's the question.....as a brand new school will they be "checked" for all of their sports programs at the conclusion of this school year?huntergreen wrote: Bradley will move up as soon as the states checks it. -

Bigger than Darby. -
ksig489Olentangy is only 24 boys from the cutoff. They cant be that far off from moving back up. Not to mention the fact that they are the fastest growing school district in the state.
I cant find an enrollment number for Bradley. -
Dad4Sports
When Bradley opened last August, I saw an enrollment number reported at approx 1100 students. However, I don't know if that was actual students (remember they have no Senior class this year), or if that was a projection with predicted Senior class figures added in.ksig489 wrote: Olentangy is only 24 boys from the cutoff. bigdogdadI too wondered if Olentangy would be changed due to the fact they were impacted by a new school. I believe their numbers have recovered and are actually higher than Liberty's, although not 100% on that. I believe the same scenario happened when Central Crossing opened. Not to detract what they have done, but both aforementioned schools are really D1 wrestling in D2. That is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.... I think.
-
ksig489I can vouch for Olentangy in that they want to be d1 again. Coach Hammons said it more than once this year that they want to be with the big boys, even saying he wants to find out if they can petition to move up.
-
monarchprideLike Graham isn't wrestlin the big boys???
Riggs from Bradley told me the State is looking at it in two year cycles so according to that both Bradley and Olentangy would be D2 for one more year -
cruiser_96You think Graham could hang if they were DI !? Yeah... right!
Take another hit from the crack pipe, monarchpride! Next you're going to try to sell me on a freshman 119 pounder placing in DI at the state tournament!!! What world some of you people live in?
I, for one, would LOVE to see a few of these DII teams try to run with the Big Boys. Oh, I don't know... Say on January 29th, 2011 @ The Cruiser Invitational!?!?!?!?!
Yeah! Right! -
cruiser_96bravesman: Agreed. At that point, every match is a grinder.
On a hypothetical level; given the incredible dual your team had with the DI district champs, do you think you guys could have pulled the win at Darby? I think you are right in that it would depend on the day, the weight classes, and all the other factors that make winning possible. ... Just asking. -
huntergreenI think that would have been pretty crazy, and awesome to see. Both obviously peeked at the right time with Marysville having 8 SQs and Olentangy having 6. Coming from a D2 standpoint, I enjoyed having Olentangy, Bradley, Hartley in our division this season. It made for a much tougher sectional and the central was very well represented at our district.
-
Dad4SportsNo doubt.....Central had a 31-25 edge in SQ's this year after the East dominated a season ago
