All-Metro selection

I also have a problem with this selection process... I have a 2X State Qualifier that was a Sectional and District Champ with a 49-1 record... He was not even an Honorable Mention because he was out voted by the OCC coaches... The #1 at 215 was a 2X State placer, so that's legit, but I'm pretty sure no other wrestler in that weight was a qualifier last year and I know none of them have the 49-1 record... He was out voted by kids that were finishing 3rd at the district.... Here's how it worked... All OCC coaches voted for eachother and the rest of us were left for dead... It wasn't based on criteria, it was based on if you were in the OCC on not...

As much as I wanna know and my wrestler wants to know, it is his coach's job to tell him one way or the other. And I'm saving that friend at the Dispatch until I really need him... like to work a career day or something... or to teach my kid about jobs in sports communications.

The waiting for Thursday is "killing" me, so this will just add a little more suspense to the pot.

It is wonderful to know that you guys (mostly coaches I would assume) care about this enough to be concerned with the process. Maybe we need a D1 team and a D2/D3 team.

I think some of these coaches need to put their ego on the back burner... The kids are the ones who are losing out....

D1 OCC rules this selection process...always has, always will.
  • Head_Knight
    And that's the problem!!!!!!

What time is the picture anyway??? I saw on the CDWCA page it said 2:00pm... That can't be right!!!

    ;) ...and don't you forget it!!! :D

I agree that it is unfortunate. I kind of wish we had a better way to solve it. I'm not 100% sure what that is or what it would look like but I would like to see the best kid nominated for the spot.

The photo will be taken at Westland, Tuesday, March 2, at 7pm. All first team wrestlers are to be there with uniform. It doesn't take long to take the photo, so don't arrive late.

Answers come easy when you are not involved with the process, but can judge the out come. I sat in that room for many years,, there is and was no over riding agenda to get a kid in or a school in. Those people are coaches who care about kids, and they make there decisions on what they have seen and what they feel is right. I have been voted over before, so has every coach in that room. In a --close-- vote every coach believes his boy is better, In --ANY--vote the parent beleives that thier son is best. In any close call the ref was wrong to the loser. That is just the way it is... I believe in that process and the people making those decisions

I have a kid every year that sould be on there somewhere but quit going for the reason thta DI always get there kids in. The best way to pick them would be have a meeting to picks the top five kids in each weight class then let all coaches in the central district vote like we do for sectionals on line.

well since i cant see it i would have to make some guesses...

someone who has seen it let me know how close i am...

    103- Marsico (possibly Fiorucci?)
112- Boyd (Timchenko and Wilson should be next, followed closely by McHugh and possibly the very underrated McDougle)
119- Heminger (or atleast it should be...could also be Disabato)
125- McCombs (obvious choice, as be beat 2nd best Boehm soundly twice)
130- Kunzi (could be Taylor, but i think Jay's head to head win will give him the nod)
135- Higgins (could be any number of guys, including Gualtieri or Barlow, Higgins win over Wolfe gives him the nod)
140- Languis (no doubt, Marsico next, then possibly Strayer?)
145- Grandiminico (would be tough to pick between Grandiminico and Rosch...possibly Luft or Green as well)
152- Prather (could also be Gordon, Hetterschiedt, Worley)
160- Marsh (hands down, Liedecker second, Jared Wilson next???)
172- Demas (nothing else to be said, i'm guessing Furguson and Bailey next, in some order)
189- Justus (i woulda givin it to Blankenship, easily, but it could also be Brown from Gahanna)
215- Weeks (possibly Fabry on this list too, maybe Lamancusa and Cullen as well)
285- Karageorge (light years ahead of everyone else, Marrero and Schramm are next, unless Sheridan is in on this...which i don't believe they are)

buzzbomb285 Fiorucci or Marsico would be a toss up both tough wrestlers also would definetly consider Murdock DC behind those two guys
