Would you rather.....

Would you rather win a state title without being ranked by brakeman, buckman, crusier, etc.....
Or win a state title being ranked #1 by all the formentioned prognosticators?

    ........
Would you rather win your sectional and have a "tough" draw at districts, or lose your sectional and have an "easier" draw at districts?

    Enjoy....

Most important is the state title but I would rather be ranked #1 going in. It means you had a better season.
  • Shankapotamus
That would be a great question for Jeff Jaggers, since the "expert" Bucksman picked against him both times he won his NCAA titles.

    yes

I wouldn't care where I was ranked if I won a State title or by whom.

I would rather win my sectional and have a tough draw at my district. We wrestle to win.

The state title is everything. I wouldn't care less where I was ranked all year as long as it was #1 at the end! :)

Same here zambrown The state title is all that matters in the end 10yrs from now. know one will remember someone being ranked #1 by all those guys rather many people remembering the state champs

Would you rather wrestle live with Mark Marrinelli for an hour? or Die?

Wrestling Mark Marinelli for an hour WILL LEAD to death.

Or do you not knnow that he lives vicariously through himself???

I'm gonna do the same with or without being ranked by someone, because I don't read or pay attention to them.
And then after the fact if someone comes up to me and says, "wow, you weren't even ranked and you won a state title!!!" I'd say, "Well, I guess that's why they don't give out state titles to ranked people".

While I agree that all that matters is the title, there's something to be said for the dominant or undefeated season. It's not so much about the ranking, but the anking is a result of the dominant season leading up to a title run. So I would rather be dominant all year AND win a State title then have a bunch of losses and win a State title. But I would definately rather have a bunch of losses and win a State title then be dominant all season and fall short of the crown. Believe me, you don't want to do that.

That's a trick question. Is it even possible to wrestle Marinelli for an hour without dying? Medieval stuff from top.

This reminds me of Sharp from West Branch who won two state titles, a runner up, and a SQ at 285 yet only won one sectional title.

I'll never have to worry about either scenario (winning ranked vs unranked) seeing as I'm graduated and didn't do anything while I wrestled. :(

I HATE losing in any form so I would pick the road that got the most wins including state....
But, I'd rather watch an underdog take state any day. I watch Jordon Oliver and Kendric Maple wrestle the other day, and let me just say wow! It was an amazing match because Oliver was losing 2-0 and had 4:06 minutes of ride time against him with 16 seconds left in the match. He won 7-5 with no nearfall points. There is not a better match to watch.

Win your sectional, Never rethink a blind draw, you control winning not draws. Let your wins control your destiny no the hope of a good draw next week.

Well...Brakeman had me #1 my senior year and I choked with a 6th place finish...so from my point of view...I wouldn't care at all about the ranking...I want the title.

If you had to pick someone to go live with Mark Marinelli for an hour, who would it be? You may not choose an official.

    Mark Neimann;)

I think it'd be more fun to picked against and pull an upset. Especially against a kid ranked to win it. You know that the people paying attention and the atmosphere would be amazing.

I posted this bit of trivia on an Ohio based wrestling forum some months ago, don't recall if it was this site, but try this one out....

What wrestler (from the NorthEast) placed 4th at the Sectional, 4th at the District, and won the State Championship in the same season?

BTW, I never wrestled Marinelli, but I did wrestle with Kurt Angle for a short little while about 15 years ago.

'Pants, I remember the battles Sharp had with the kid from Alliance. That was some real exciting heavyweight wrestling.
