shelby sectional D-2-ANY PREDICTIONS
-
teamram215WELL as every1 no's lex and oak habor will battle it out 4 the team title.
So lets start picking weight class champs runner ups and 3rd and 4th.
AT 215 I have cody thompson of madison winning it and lexingtons hile and gambucie (i no i spell bad) and kardaz and faust also taking 1st does any1 else have any imput. -
matdadSome good match-ups between Lex and Oak Harbor. If Witt (OH) goes 160 it will be a war between he and Humphrey (Lex)
-
TinkertrainThoughts on some weight classes
112- If Dylan Stiffler stays at 112 this weight is ALOT tougher than it was before. He was a HUGE 112 and will be very difficult to beat at this weight.
119- Gambucci vs. Hackworth could be very interesting if it happens. Hackworth fell on his face at sectionals last year so i'm kind of in wait and see mode.
130- Going to be a grinder if Cameron Campbell is well enough to go. He did not wrestle at the sbc's last weekend due to illness. Alex Bergman is capable of winning this weight but needs to work hard on closing out matches.
140,145,152,160 all greatly depend on what weight Ian Miller and Konner Witt decide to go at. Once that's known the peices will fall together.
215- Trevor Strickland may not be the most impressive wrestler i've ever seen but god damn is he huge! I mean he's got to be atleast 6'7.
Lexington could beat out Oak Harbor for the sectional and district titles but come Columbus i'll put my money on the Rockets to finish ahead of the Minutemen and take home the coveted runner up trophy. -
fan63I agree with Stiffler at 112, what a surprise. However, Campbell has been very impressive.
Gambucci won't have a problem with Hackworth, we've wrestled both to know.
Hile is the top of the class at 130, easy.
140 will be close with Kardaz there.
Witt can take what he wants.
This sectional is worth going to just to see the finals, maybe we can swing by after ours is finished. -

DeterThe rockets take team titles at sectionals and districts. I think allseasons has a fair prediction. Based on that the rockets send 13 to districs and lex sends 7 with each team having 4 champs plus 2 swing matches. Even if lex wins both swing matches I think the rockets score too many points from the other placers. I don't think lex has the support to go with the big guns this year. We will see!
-
DeterDoes anyone know if the results will be posted on weirichs wrestling site? I know last years was but I don't see any entries yet for this year. Usually an entry grid is at least posted by now. Thanks in advance.

AllseasonsResults will be posted on www.hswrestling.com
Team predictions.
Oak Harbor should have 14 point scorers if everyone is heathy enough to wrestle.
Lexington - could finish first with 6 finalest
Clyde - 3 possible champs
Norwalk
Bellevue
Tiffin Columbian
Perkins
Port Clinton -
teamram215i agree with alot of your predictions but let me tell you this your sleeping
on my boy cody thompson he will be a top 2 finisher and yea @160 if he does move down(oH kid) him and the lex kid will have a great match.I love 2 see great wrestling win loose or draw.Im very excited for this weekend
lets just hope mother nature does'n't make us tap out. -

Huh? The prediction above does show Thompson as a top 2 finisher?teamram215 wrote: i agree with alot of your predictions but let me tell you this your sleeping

BlodgBelow is my stab at the top 6 in each weight class for the Shelby D2 Sectional.
103
1) Kyle Lang Norwalk 9
2) Derik Kopp Columbian 9
3) Bryon Logan Perkins 9
4) Dominic Cummins Willard 9
5) Alex Rawson Clyde 9
6) Alex Grimm Shelby 9
It looks like all freshman at 103 for the Shelby Sectional where Lang is the favorite.
112
1) Calvin Campbell Lexington 10
2) Dillan Stiffler Clyde 12
3) Justin Kopp Columbian 11
4) Luke Cramer Oak Harbor 9
5) Greg Willis Port Clinton 10
6) Jake Montana Norwalk 10
With Stiffler's cut from 119 just last week it made the 112 class much tougher.
119
1) Brandon Gambucci Lexington 12
2) Tyler Hackworth Oak Harbor 11
3) Tyler Sparks Norwalk 10
4) Zach Rawson Clyde 12
5) Casey Dodson Bellevue 11
6) Kyle Niedermeier Willard 11
Gambucci and then Hackworth are the heavy favorites at 119 and Sparks looks to build on his great showing at the NOL Tourney. This is one of the tougher weight classes from top to bottom where all 11 wrestlers have more wins than losses.
125
1) Drew Stone Oak Harbor 12
2) Zach Thurn Clyde 12
3) Jordan Teeters Norwalk 10
4) Damon Cheek Bellevue 10
5) Jacob Fleming Port Clinton 10
6) Scott Smith Willard 10
Stone is a step above the rest at 125 and 2nd through 5th may all be fairly even.
130
1) Nick Hile Lexington 11
2) Alex Bergman Oak Harbor 10
3) Phil Hurst Norwalk 12
4) Cam Campbell Perkins 10
5) Stephen Pastor Port Clinton 11
6) Cody Matern Madison 11
Hile is the clear favorite at 130 but Bergman, Hurst, and Campbell are all tough and could end up anywhere from 2nd to 4th. Assuming Campbell is back after missing the SBC Tourney due to illness.
135
1) Jake Faust Lexington 10
2) Shane Justice Bellevue 12
3) Zach Bergman Oak Harbor 12
4) Nick Davis Norwalk 10
5) Tyler Mees Perkins 11
6) Caleb Vrancken Columbian 11
Faust and Justice should be a good match. After the top six 135 is one of the weaker weight classes with five wrestlers having losing records.
140
1) Ian Miller Oak Harbor 11
2) Dan Kardasz Lexington 12
3) Drew Williams Columbian 11
4) Eric Pumphrey Clyde 12
5) Carl Hokes Norwalk 11
6) Dilan Buckner Bellevue 10
Assuming that Miller will go back down to 140 and should be a good match with Kardasz who is a top contendor at State as well. Miller may stay at 145 and avoid Felipe Martinez at State.
145
1) Drew Burrows Lexington 12
2) Jake Cramer Oak Harbor 11
3) Isaac Williams Columbian 11
4) Joey Snyder Perkins 11
5) Kalob Andrews Clyde 11
6) Chris Moore Bellevue 9
If Ian Miller goes 145 he is the heavy favorite here. Williams with only 1 loss all year is likely looking forward to testing himself against some state level contendors in Burrows and Cramer.
152
1) Konner Witt Oak Harbor 12
2) Jared Fleming Port Clinton 11
3) Brad Metz Lexington 10
4) Brandon Flores Clyde 12
5) Mason Sieger Bellevue 11
6) Richard Valentine Columbian 12
Assuming that Witt goes 152 he is the heavy favorite here. 2nd through 6th is not clear cut and could end up in any order. Also possible that Smith from Clyde could drop to 152 where he should battle for the top 2 or 3 spots.
160
1) Ian Humphrey Lexington 12
2) Will Stephens Bellevue 11
3) Ben Petrie Willard 12
4) Richard Harris Port Clinton 12
5) Brad Smith Clyde 9
6) Jacob Beamer Norwalk 12
Humphrey is the clear favorite and again the rest of the top 6 could end up in any order.
171
1) Mike Mallernee Oak Harbor 12
2) Alex Trautman Perkins 12
3) Brendan Adkinson Bellevue 10
4) Ray Hopfinger Port Clinton 11
5) Cody Ortolani Clyde 12
6) Trey Tyree Columbian 12
Mallernee and Trautman had a good battle in the finals at the SBC Tourney and should be the top 2 here at Sectionals as well.
189
1) Chris Rambo Madison 11
2) Billy Ward Clyde 10
3) Travis Davlin Perkins 11
4) Jake Hogan Shelby 11
5) Jake Alexander Norwalk 10
6) Kyle Martinez Lexington 12
189 is one of the weaker classes as far as state level contendors. Only Davlin from Perkins is mentioned in the Brakeman and he may be out as I don't believe he wrestled in the SBC Tourney.
215
1) Trevor Strickland Clyde 11
2) Cody Thompson Madison 10
3) Cody Rine Bellevue 12
4) Brandon Burks Lexington 11
5) Ryan Polachek Willard 11
6) Jonny Bergman Oak Harbor 11
Strickland and Thompson should be a good match. Rine is dangerous where he has been a pinning machine lately locking up the cradle on almost all of his opponents at some point in the match.
285
1) Nick Wagoner Shelby 11
2) Zach Sandwisch Oak Harbor 12
3) Greg Donna Columbian 12
4) Devin Cox Madison 10
5) Josh Cmar Bellevue 12
6) Jason Conrad Port Clinton 11
Heavyweight is not a very deep field after the top 3 or 4 wrestlers.
Team Race
1) Lexington
2) Oak Harbor
3) Clyde
4) Bellevue
5) Norwalk
6) Columbian
7) Perkins
8) Port Clinton
9) Madison
10) Shelby
11) Willard
Will be close between Lexington and Oak Harbor for the title. Those two are too close to call and then a large gap in team points down to 3rd. -
teamram215oooooooooo ic yes you were right he does have him in the top 2 and also i conpletly forgot about rambo @189 he has been wrestling well lately he should be in the mix there if he wretles like he did @O.C.C.s

Agreed, the Shelby Sectional is just ridiculous. Wauseon is weak this year but is second in producing state qualifiers over the last two years. Outside of a few teams Wauseon is weak this year and so is Lima Shawnee. Following is the number of state qualifiers that came out of each sectional for this District:Allseasons wrote:

2008 & 2009 State Qualifiers:
Shelby Sectional - 38
Wauseon Sectional - 33
Medina Sectional - 29
Lima Shawnee Sectional - 12
Only 12 (10.7%) of the district qualifiers from Lima made it to State the last two years! There are kids from the Shelby sectional finishing 5th and 6th that could beat some of the district qualifiers out of Lima. Why can't they seed the sectionals to try and make it more even and fair? -
swift1Thats an easy answer...... It is because the ones that are making the decisions want it to be this way. Much easier to get their own kids to move on.
-
fan63It's true. Most studs from Lima wash out quick. Shelby is a meat grinder.
