Snowed in (again) today??? Don't fret! Watch wrestling!!!

cruiser_96The BigTen Network does it again. They bring you top level wrestling in the form of a college dual. the Nittany Lions of Penn State play host to Michigan State.
Question: Are TV ratings done per household or per television set? -
cruiser_96ps: 9 to 11am.

girevik141 pound match, 1st period ended 0-0, MSU choice, they defer. That's just piss poor coaching. I see it all the time in high school, junior high, and youth, I certainly didn't expect to see it in the Big 10 though.
-
hizzmutherWhy is that "piss poor coaching?" Does it really matter if they defer. Isn't that just keeping their strength under-wraps as long as possible? Please... explain!

Bitterrunner-upFirst score gets choice in the ultimate tie-breaker. If you get choice in second period of a 0-0 match, and choose down and escape, you have choice if the match goes that far.

hizzmutherGotcha... writing that down so I won't forget.

Yeah, but if he can't escape and he gets rode for a minute then the other person gets a point. Although, I still don't think I'd let the other coach make the decision.Bitterrunner-up wrote: First score gets choice in the ultimate tie-breaker. You should put them in the position that they are most likely to score 1st from. Might be top, maybe even neutral, possibly down. Giving the other guy choice is sort of doing the opposite of that, eh?dbluvsd1amonds wrote:

I actually saw a high school match over the weekend, 0-0 tie at the end of the 1st, wrestler who was favored wins the flip, defers, other wrestler picks down, wrestler who deferred tells the ref to stand him up and gives him the escape???
He ended up losing on a last second take down, could have very easily went into OT and on to the ultimate tie breaker. -

My son lost a spot to state this last weekend over that exact same thing. I wasn't on the floor and the club had some random coach who had never seen my son wrestle or the kid he was wrestling. 0-0 till the last period and my son's coach sent him down. The kid my son was wrestling was a state runner up last year, and I knew it shouldn't have happened but there was nothing I could do about it. We lost 5-2 (takedown, nearfall, and reverse.) All the points happened in the last 38 seconds of the match.girevik wrote:
