I agree.....in some ways this sectional may be nearly as tough as the district tournament....especially if Claymont's Kyle Warner stays at 130 lbs. The East has a stud at the top (Arizona Miller), but there's not much depth at this weight beyond him.
  • Dad4Sports
Bishop Hartley's Zang supposedly just certified recently at 160......

112 Dennis from BV had a season ending injury in December

  • ksig489
I would have called Jones a sleeper...but it seems like everyone else knows about him. I watched the win against AC...great match for him.
  • DaKing171
Looks like getting out of this sectional has a couple of weight classes sitting pretty at districts
  • TakedownChamp
Yeah jones is having a good year so far hope he keeps it up...and what about Zang at 160 he was a sq last yr.

Amazing with all the technology there is nothing officially posted. It used to be at least the host schools have it on their web site. I guess since AC is D3 this year, their interest may be else where. Looking at some of the other districts i.e. Meadowbrook, what a joke some weights are. For example 215 and heavy only have seven wrestlers each. It looks possible for a kid to win one or two matches and makes it to the disticts. Some of the D1 schools only have 9-10 kids in a weight. Maybe we have too many sectionals. Then we throw in the weight allowance a joke that is. You don't see the basketball teams getting the goal lowered by two inches because of the snow. Why should wrestling make some stupid allowance.
  • jaba134
Because kids aren't allowed to practice, it makes it hard to maintain weight, wrestling is a unique sport when it comes to things like this.
  • Dad4Sports
Sorry to mention this.... last year the brackets for the AC sectional didn't show up on Baum's page until a week or two AFTER the tournament.

Our coach said that the AC Athletic Director said at the meeting last night that the brackets would be up on Baum's page....still waiting

What's so unique about sticking to the rules? Considering that OSHAA jams the comical hydration test down your throat so wrestlers will "wrestler at their healthy weights", don't you find this weight allowance a bit hypacritical? Seems to me that they are rewarding those who are irresponsible and weight bouncing. For what? Bad weather THREE days before the competition.

    We need some leadership changes.

Total joke giving 2 lbs. For what one day of school and some cases 2 days at the beginning part of the week.
    Let's encourage more weight cutting.
I think giving one lb would have been a gift...2?
  • samuel adams
I do not understand why you people are wining about the 2 lbs... your telling me that if you had been cutting all year and for sectionals you got 2 extra pounds you wouldn't love it!!!!!! If you don't agree with this you must of never cut weight, it is extremely hard for a kid thats cutting to stay at home for 2 days without practice.
  • knightflyer150
I've cut plenty of weight, that really isn't a defining factor for an opinion. Two pounds is too much and is counter productive to what OHSAA is selling. "Hey, wrestle at your Alpha...wait, not really, here are two pounds."

I the end, it isn't a huge deal. We've got guys cutting that will like it and guys who don't that hate it.
