TEAM OHIO: AAU Junior Olympic Games Freestyle Training & Competition Team
TEAM OHIO is a freestyle wrestling club that consists of over 60 of Ohio's best wrestlers. TEAM OHIO members are chosen based on placement in the Central Ohio Qualifier (May 1st at Delaware Hayes HS) or by petition, they train together in a 4-day mini-camp from July 27-31, and they compete in the annual AAU Junior Olympic Games, which is in Houston, TX in 2016. The tournament at the JO Games is a week-long, round robin, freestyle dual tournament with teams from over 20 states. TEAM OHIO members get in over 15 matches at the JO Games.
The AAU CENTRAL OHIO STATE TOURNAMENT & TEAM OHIO QUALIFIER will be held Sunday, May 1st at Delaware Hayes HS. Weigh ins are from 7:30-9:30am and wrestling begins at 10am. Those individuals wishing to be considered for TEAM OHIO who cannot make the tournament should submit a petition (a list of wrestling accomplishments) by mail to TEAM OHIO, PO Box 744, Mt. Vernon, OH 43050 with a $20 reading fee (the equivalent to the tournament's entry fee) by April 22, 2016. TEAM OHIO members will be chosen by a committee of TEAM OHIO coaches after the qualifying tournament on May 1st.
