He's one of my wrestlers but I wanted to give this kid a big shout out for what he accomplished. Ben is a freshman and first year wrestler, and not only that he came out for wrestling a couple weeks late because he had made the freshmen basketball team at Fredericktown. I got a call over thanksgiving break from Ben asking if he could still join the team, since it was a voicemail I checked with our AD to make sure it was ok. Basically he told his basketball coach he doesn't want to play basketball anymore and feel he'd be better at wrestling. Well, he was spot on with that statement. Had he stuck with basketball at best he would have been jv, I had an opening at his weight so he stepped in right away with varsity. Ben put the time and effort in to learn and get better and yesterday finished 6th at the Coshocton district. Though his season is over the fact he made it to district, placing 4th at sectionals, makes me proud of what he accomplished this year. He lost his first round match and battled all the back through the conso rounds to get to the medal rounds. Congrats Ben!
