Darby District – First Class Hospitality Room

  • ScooterHD
Good and sad news here! Let’s start with the good news. Sue and Tony Valenti are organizing the well known hospitality room again for the District Wrestling tournament at Hilliard Darby High School. There are 60+ sponsors that will be donating food, supplies, etc to make the coaches, referees and volunteers have no worries when it is time to eat. For anyone who has experienced the hospitality room you walk in hungry and walk out full. If you come back a little later, there will be some new items available. First class! The hospitality room takes several months to come together and is architected and orchestrated by Sue Valenti. She starts planning in September, and then hits it hard November through February by meeting with sponsors and getting the administrative tasks completed in preparation for the tournament. During this week there will be some set-up completed at Darby High School and then on Friday (3/6) at 12:00 noon the magic begins. More set-up is done until school lets out, then the hospitality room takes final shape with buffet room, dessert area and dining tables ready to welcome and serve the guests. Behind the scenes, Sue has her master plan which coordinates driver pick-ups, sponsor deliveries and volunteer schedules. This continues through Saturday night until the last match is wrestled. Throughout this entire process Sue Valenti is always expressing her appreciation to the sponsors and many volunteers! By the way, Sue and Tony Valenti have full time jobs, 3 sons that keep them busy in high school, college and in Hilliard and still find time to make this happen year after year.
Now the sad news. This will be the last year for the Valenti’s as their youngest son will be graduating from Hilliard Darby High School. The Hilliard community is very lucky to have the Valenti family as they are role models on support, giving back and courtesy. Thank you Sue and Tony Valenti!

This is the hospitality room of legends! I coach D3 now and when I tell my assistant coaches of this hospitality room it's like telling a grand tale of long ago and they are all captivated by what all they have in this room. This is the tournament where it's not so bad if you only have a couple wrestlers and they get beat early because you can definitely drown your sorrows in some awesome food.

Thank you for all your hard work!

The room holds the excitement of a "go to" match! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication!! : thumbup:

I left CC....HS several years ago and was elated when my school moved to DI, almost solely due to Darby's hospitality room - lol, but unfortunately, I will miss the chance to waddle out of Darby 5-6 lbs heavier this year!

    Cruiser.....eat a plate for me! Dent.....Mifflin? :RpS_lol:

Ha, no doubt there! I've heard good things at Coshocton, but I'll believe it when I see it.
