Watkins sectional...GREAT match shout out
-
Dust_E_RoadsWant to give a shout out to the combatants in the 126 consi semi at Watkins. Hathaway from Reynoldsburg and Mayberry from Delaware. I'm not from either school and don't know either wrestler from Adam.
THE most entertaining match I think I have ever seen and the way all wrestling matches should be in my opinion.
Hathaway won, 16-10, but both guys left everything, I mean everything, on the mat. Both we're trying to score every second of the match. Wasn't a game of ride out vs. escapes or single legs vs blocking and backinup. Non stop action. Big moves. Throws and shots. The match had it all. Shame there had to be a loser.
Kudos gentlemen. Don't change a thing! -
Tony MeadLove it, wish we could see the video!

iGranbyTo add to this, after the match concluded I looked over to the stands and saw many, if not all of Deleware's fans cheering for both wrestlers, (as well as almost everyone else in the stands). It's pretty easy to be bitter about your kid losing a match like that, its even easier to be bitter after losing a match like that yourself, but that team & their fans showed a lot of class. I was talking with Dom a little later & Mayberry came up and congratulated Dom himself. Thought that was worth mentioning.

If I was "King for a Day" I would make a new rule that any coach or wrestler who wants to complain about a stalling call has to sit down and watch a tape of that match before opening their mouths. If every wrestler attacked their matches the way those cats attacked that one, wrestling would have no problem appealing to the public. And, as Cruiser has pointed out, I'm really an upper weight junky, but those to 126's wrestled like mean 170's in a take down tourney. It was awesome.
