boats19With the new procedures, the seeding and brackets should come out pretty quick I would assume. Any time frame on that yet? I looked in a few places and didn't see a date.
-
Con_AlmaThe brackets in the NE who use this procedure don't come out until after weigh-ins/skin checks are completed the day of wrestling.

I think now they're planning on getting the brackets to the coaches the night before so they have time to look over the info for challenges and head to head. Then the meeting after weigh-ins like you're talking about is only used for scratches and challenges.Con_Alma;1702271 wrote:The brackets in the NE who use this procedure don't come out until after weigh-ins/skin checks are completed the day of wrestling.
So after doing my original post, it didn't say anything about getting us the brackets just that we have a deadline of the Thursday before to submit out info and make changes outside if the exceptions. I guess I misread that as getting everything to us coaches on Thursday as well since we'll start on Friday (D3). But, I guess we'll see what happens when it gets here. -

And I would assume it would be the same all over the state. -
Con_Alma
Careful with assumptions. It would only make sense but this whole lack of consistency across the State is craziness. I've been advocating for uniformity for years. We are finally getting closer with these recent changes.cruiser_96;1702302 wrote:And I would assume it would be the same all over the state.
There's no way the seeding meeting in the North East takes more than 5 minutes after the brackets are drawn. These brackets are literally created right in front of the coaches being projected up on the wall as the weight classes are gone through one at a time. Occasionally there may be a mistake or something is missed but it shouldn't take a half an hour to fix it or discuss it. As far as these "challenges", they almost never occur. They aren't as important as some want them to be.
Line up and wrestle....no matter where you are seeded in the Sectional tournament. If you don't get out of your sectional because of seeding, you most likely weren't going to be in Columbus. -

Not every kid is capable of wrestling at the Schott...for some, it may be a GREAT achievement to become a DQ. Also...now that criteria has become the norm, being a DQ certainly helps the following season.Con_Alma;1702309 wrote:If you don't get out of your sectional because of seeding, you most likely weren't going to be in Columbus. -

Of course not. Understanding that, these seeding meetings need not be some lengthy debate. They aren't as important as past investment in time has dictated.Dad4Sports;1702313 wrote:Not every kid is capable of wrestling at the Schott...for some, it may be a GREAT achievement to become a DQ. I guess that depends on your point of view...Con_Alma;1702315 wrote: They aren't as important as past investment in time has dictated. -
Con_AlmaIndeed. It's only my point of view that I have shared. I think the OHSAA has begun to agree with it as of late when considering the recent changed imposed.
...not that the OHSAA is always right and I'm far from always being right...LOL... but I've always thought it crazy that it would take so much time for something as simple as seeding. -

Agreed. Some of those coaches though were groomed into that process through years of seeding big GS/MS and then HS league tournaments.:RpS_glare:Con_Alma;1702373 wrote:but I've always thought it crazy that it would take so much time for something as simple as seeding.
Practice, practice, practice.
