Weight allowance question

  • 80baby
Here's the question and if you answer it please provide the reference or rule that covers the situation.

If a team (A) wrestles on Wednesday then on Thursday that team and teams (B, C, and D) will all get an extra pound on Thursday. So if one of the other teams (B, C, or D) is wrestling on Friday and Saturday by rule are they eligible to receive the max weight allowance for Friday and Saturday or would they have to make the same Thursday and Friday then receive the extra pound on Saturday?

When the question came up and I researched it I couldn't find that situation to answer the question. However the terminology in the manual would state that the team(s) would get the additional pound to the max weight allowance.

    HELP!

Weds. scratch, thurs +1, Fri +2, Sat +3 max is plus 4. the growth allowance given on Dec 25th, would not count against the plus 4 max. This is the way I read it but I could be wrong.

Max is growth allowance plus 2 or 4lbs overall.

I'm with lion...the Dec 25th growth allowance does count against the max allowance...

    http://www.ohsaa.org/sports/rglts/WR.pdf

"7. A maximum of two pounds above the growth allowance (scratch plus 4) is
    the total maximum allowable."

So I guess the question of the original poster for teams, B, C & D boils down to:

    Thursday +1 (scratch +3), Friday +2 (scratch +4), Sat +2 OR Thur +1, Fri +1, Sat +2

Not sure I know the answer...
  • It is what it is
My thought would be:Wed. (scratch +2, if they've made scratch), Thurs. (scratch +3), Fri. & Sat. (scratch +4)

so the +2 counts, plus 4 total from scratch. not very often do high schoolers wrestle 4 straight days in season with 4 straight weigh ins.

I got it since team (B, C or D) are not wrestling 4 days in a row they would have to make +1 the first day then +2 the second day. This came from OHSAA however he wasn't 100% sure because the rule isn't very clear about this. They might get back to me and change this either way we all have something to go by in the future.
