School Records

Wrestling is over and I need something to talk about. Give you guys a chance to brag about yourselves or your school. Do you personally hold a school record currently or did you at one point (college or HS)? What was the record? Then if you coach what are some records where you coach? If there are some historians on here that know what the records are at their alma mater (Cruiser_96) list those as well. I think it is fun to see how long certain records have stood and just looking at what others have accomplished. Plus, I think it's neat to see where one school's record is another school's average performance, or where they just had that one stud come through and blew every record out of the water.

Mine, I tied the career pin mark with 53 (it was broken two years later), I had 45 going into my senior year and missed half the year with an injury and only mustered up 8 pins that year to tie the record. I also had the single season pin record of 20 for about 7 years. Not sure what either record is now but there have been some good wrestlers come through Reynoldsburg that have broken a lot of the old records.

I coach at Fredericktown and sadly in my three years there I'm the only one who has kept any stat records, but the career win mark is 141 by Nolan Dilts, he was a senior my first year coaching, he also holds the single season takedown record of 127. Single season win mark was 43 this year by Carson Mills. The single season pin mark was 26 by Cody McGuire who is also a 2x state qualifier. I'm still trying to dig through the archives to see what the career mark is for pins and takedowns because the guys that probably hold those records were the seniors my first year coaching.

So let's hear it, what have you or your team accomplished.

Tommy Cunningham, Matt Mossor, and Josh Chilcote most likely hold quite a few of the records at GMHS. I can't see Dugan Bentley being too far behind that. Our 1991-1994 teams had some talent. Not sure about records though.

It would be nice to find some hidden vault in the school with records up to the turn I the millennium. But I doubt they exist.

Ive been in the program for a while and I find a tough time keeping the stats myself. I need to do a better job enlisting help in this area.

    Cruiser_96-

My old HS coach told me he has a bunch of info on central Ohio wrestling dating back to 1981 when he started coaching here. He's going to give it to me and once I go through it if there is anything worth looking at I'll be more than happy to donate that to Inside the Circle if you would be interested?

Tremendous work and great read. Impressive to have that kind of detail
. Nate weeks was a beast. Hadn't thought about him in a long while.

One nit: How is OCC "Champions" on page 2 determined? Darius Walker (285) in 12/13 caught my eye. With Davidson's & Gusan in the OCC Central, I trust he'd be considered the "champ" that year. If I recall, Walker missed a fair amount of the 12/13 season, so maybe they didn't wrestle.

If I remember correctly we had a couple situations that year where we had 2 undefeated wrestlers who hadn't met. That was the case at HWT and the coaches voted to make them co-first team.

Since he will never get recognized since all the wins "didn't come from the same school".. I will put it out there because IMO career wins are career wins.. A certain central ohio wrestler broke a school record of 167 career wins.. This wrestler ended his senior season with 180 career wins..didn't win the shoulda, coulda, woulda matches but 180 is something to be proud of. I know I am;)

I haven't been back to my high school since 1990, so I don't know if they still stand, but I used to hold the single season and career records for takedowns. They've had some decent kids come through though so it wouldn't surpirse me if they are held by someone else. They haven't had a champ since '90, but they've had a few runners-up and several multi-time placers so I bet they're no longer mine. I should make it back there one of these days.
