State Duals brackets have been released!

upset_125So what about the other division?
-
cruiser_96Feel free to mention them!
Region 14, maybe? -
CthelitesHow do the rds work this yr?
looks like only a match or two in the first rd (8-9 7-10 match ups)
are they at the higher seeds gym?
8-9 winner at #1 seed and that would be the first rd?
or is the 8-9 at there own gym then the winner goes to 1 seed where there will be 2 matches 1- 8 winner of 4-5.
or 8-9 at 1 seed then they wrestling the next rds later? -
CthelitesAre they having the reg final also with the sub reg final the same night?
-
CthelitesOk I figured it out...first wed night 1/22 will have 3 matches starting at 5.
that seems like a looooong night.
in R6 there are only 4 prelim matches...I'm just thinking out loud that maybe it would be better to have those the week before at higher seeds gym(there might be a chance of a gate and it would eliminate 3 matches on a school night)
so all these would take place at the 1 seed gym...
8/9 wrestle at 5pm (1 hr 25 min match)
then 1/8 and 4/5 wrestle 20 min after say 6:45(1 hr 30 min match)
then 1/4 wrestle 20 min after say 8:35 (1 hr 35 min match)
done by 10:10?
conservative match time estimates? -
thevikingit will only be 3 matches it the 8/9 win against the 1st seed
yes that 1st match is at 5pm should only take 1 hr then 20 min break wr then 20 min break then wr -
CthelitesThen the following wed 1/29
sub A 1 seed vs sub A 2 seed 5pm
sub B 1 sees vs sub B 2 seed 5pm
winner 1 vs 1 20 min after
at which sub #1 seed? A or B?
Seed winners based on chalk of course! -
It is what it is
Region 14 (DII central Ohio) would be correct my friend!cruiser_96;1566515 wrote:Feel free to mention them!

HilliardDadSome non expert analysis....feel free to correct/chastise/laugh out loud/ridicule and especially add any particular individual matchups you want to see here....
Sub-Region 6A
At first I thought Darby was rated too high with a #2 seed. After all, ITC just dropped them out of the top 10.... But if they can get healthy, the seed is probably right. I hope everything goes chalk because then Darby would face Davidson one week, and Bradley the next. Those will be intense matches....
other thoughts are:
#4Central Crossing vs. #5Grove City should be good, with Central Crossing winning because of extra pts from pins/TF
I'll be interested in the Westland / Col. West results, as I kinda know a couple of kids there.
Other than that, my guess is it goes chalk.
Sub-Region 6-B
Marysville is obviously the favorite for the sub region, and the Region as a whole. It will be interesting to see all the Dayton area teams in this, though. Sidney looked good in spots at the Panther invitational, but not deep. Their match with Beavercreek should be one the best of the sub-region, although I bet Piqua/Troy will be intense, as these are close towns and I assume a pretty good rivalry.
Sub-Region 5-A
This is an interesting sub-region, with so many good teams. Pick Central has been tough this year, but Pick North, Lancaster and Teays Valley are all very good. I don't follow all the team duals, so I'm not sure why Lancaster is above Teays Valley, but assuming this goes chalk, the Lancaster/ Pick North and TV/Pick Cent duals look awesome.
Sub Region 5-B
While #4 Olentangy vs. #5 UA should be a really really good dual, this sub region is really about 2 teams. Delaware Hayes and Westerville North... North has been very very good this year, but with Hayes on the upswing, I really think this could be one of the best duals in both region 5 and region 6. The winner is more than likely winning the region.
So there you have my non expert analysis. I go wildly out on a limb and predict chalk for all sub-regions, with the possible exception of Hayes over W. North. The winner of that dual, along with Marysville, are my predictions for going to St. John.
Again, any comments, elaborations, more detail, or absolute mockery is welcome. and, quite frankly, expected. -
HilliardDadIn any event, I will be looking forward to the results!! Hopefully we see individual results posted.
-
CthelitesNice break Dow HDad!
anyone out there??? -
cruiser_96HilliardDad: as you state "...if Darby can get healthy..." Mark this down: if they are healthy, the Panthers are EASILY in the top ten. Gotta be heathy though. And I join on with the Panther faithful who want to see it! Little Black, Rayburn, Valenti, Garrett, Thatcher, Colvin, Black, Parker, Miller and I'm sure I forgot a few in there, but that's a heck of a line up.
5A top: I'm excited to see what WM has. They'll have a tough opponent in L-Town, but if results get posted, it'll be a nice dual to examine. The winner there will face - most likely - PN. (Before we jump ahead, Rollo/Crum will go down!) L v PN will take place this Thursday (#ThursdayNightThunder) and on Wednesday, Jan 22. Let's see if the score changes due to adjustments being made.
5A bottom: I think the TV/PC match will be HUGE!!!!!!!!!!! TV is coming on, and PC is tough. Subplots all the way through. Dooley/Hogue could be the match within the match!!! As an aside, I'll be interested to see what Logan has. They are at Darby so any info prior to mid-Feb. is nice.
5B top: OO v SC should go as seeded. Things could get tighter if SC pulls a fast one and bumps Rooney up to 145 in order to match freshman stud Broskie. Probably won't happen, but I was just thinking. Hayes should emerge as the sub-region finalist from the top. They are, as the man said, "as good as advertised".
5B bottom: I think this is where the most uncertainty (IMO) lies. Olentangy (of the Lewis Center sort) has some real top-end talent. The question will be whether or not it will be enough to overcome UA's balance across the board. I think this will be a close dual, with bonus points playing a factor. WN should end up in the sub-regional finals after facing the UA/O winner. The DH/WN sub-regional final should be a good one!
All in all, there will be some great wrestling these nights!
Region 6 could be typed later. -
cruiser_96Region 6A top: I'm not overly sold that this dual meet goes to seed. It may, but I'm interested to see the match-ups. I already think Oberly/Gill could be awesome! My guess is that TW advances to take on HD. I think Darby wins and will meet up with the WK/HDav winner.
Region 6A bottom: West will take on Westland in the first round. I think West, if all of their pieces are in place, can win, and set up a fantastic 106 pound match between Campbell and Abdi! I hope it works out like that. CC...HS will take on cross-town rival in Grove City. I think CC...HS comes out on top and will face (more than likely) Bradley. Another nice match!
Region 6B: Hopefully Coffman can win. I'm not sure why they, along with Marysville, are mixed in with the west district but whatevs. Go Rocks. Go Marysville! -
CthelitesHow do the #1 seeds hosting determined?
i thought they were going to rotate between the 2 #1s???
Marysville is hosting again.
im not saying they don't deserve it as I have been saying all yr that they are the team to beat in the district and until someone knocks them off they are the standard.
but...if it is supposed to rotate, it should rotate. -

I was under the understanding last year 1A hosted, this year 1B will host.Cthelites;1567958 wrote:How do the #1 seeds hosting determined?

CthelitesThnx beast i thought so too.
it looks like they reconfigured the regions/subdivisions.
maybe they will put Marysville on the other side again next yr so they can host again haha.
