Heath High School still needs a head wrestling coach!!

  • wraith51
I contacted their athletic director today to try and schedule a dual with them and he told me they still don't have a coach and may just cut the program. I'm not affiliated with the team/school at all but the sport as a whole doesn't need this and I'd hate to see some of their athletes miss out b/c they can't find a coach.

For anyone who is interested contact AD Mark DeLaney at [email protected].

Best of luck to anyone who gets the job and I hope someone steps up and gets it.

Go ahead and cut the program and we'll see how that works out for you in November

Another thing that crossed my mind about this is that Heath is usually a host site for the d2 or d3 districts every year. If they cut the program are they going to forfeit their site to host as well?

They had a teaching opening in the spring and were advertising it with several coaching positions, wrestling included, but that one didn't specify whether it was head or assistant. Looks like they filled all the other coaching positions first b/c wrestling was advertised on OHSAA's website at the end of the summer and that was advertised as head coach finally.

The current principal was the AD when they started the program I do believe, and he's in attendance helping at the district tournament, so I have a hard time believing he'd let the program get cut. I think push come to shove a parent or someone close to the program would step in and at least fill the spot just so they could have the team.
